Hi everyone, I'm new to ClubSnap.
Using a 550D Kit I, for about a month now...
Love to take closeup shots.
Hope to get advise from you guys on how I can improve or upgrade to take better shots.
Some of my shots are posted on my deviantArt account. Do pop by and have a look.

Hey guys, was thinking of getting a 550D as my first dslr.
Want to do some price check before my purchase.
Best offer i got so far was from TK fotos.
1598 for kit 2 with freebies: tripod, blower, bag, 8gb. not sure if screen protector and filter is included or not but most likely not.
1599 for kit 2 with freebies from ms color: screen protector and filter, bag and 8gb.
Should i get it from either one of them?

Did you check with SLRR?
8GB SD card & EOS bag are gift from canon.
blower is a $2 item while a screen protector is $3.
cheapo tripod will trap and worse case will not support your 550D with heavy lens in future.
both shop assume selling local canon warrnaty set hence it a matter of preference from yourself.
Kit II will be a great place to start as it has a longer range zoom. kind of all-in-one travel len but master of none.;p
*i bough my kit ii from MS. yet i dun have so much freebie like your deal.:angry:

So the price that was quoted was ok? I was actually hoping there will be a free dry cabinet. =D
analoge dry cabin will put u off with $135(courts last week promo)
while a full digi dry cabin will be in range of $190-$220 (depend on brand & size)
in either way...u did "save" from the MSRP of kit ii. so just take it that u have pay for the MSRP & got a free dry cabin + whatever freebie u mention above lor.
*some big brand co are giving dry box,extra 8GB,tripod but u need pay MSRP of $1544 or $1788.
#dry box given - $28.*GB class 4 - $21.tripod $20 +/-. OEM batt - $18.
you do the math....lol

TRANSCEND SD HC SDHC CLASS 10 16GB selling at ard SGD $80.
Can some kind soul tell me why is sandisk more expensive then Transcend?
Is class 6 enough or good to get class 10 instead.
Lastly, anyone have experience with ordering batt grip from ebay. I am wondering will it come under 1 week.

I got my phottix batt grip from ebay and it came in a week via registered post even though I did not opt for it.

What you mean by analogue and digital dry cabinet? Are you referring to the humidity readout? Just wondering.

however i could be bias as i am using the AP-48EX. ;p
i got my scandisk SDHC ultra class 4 16GB from SLS for $62.50.( class 6 16GB HD video - $92 )
do rem that 550D can only buffer 6pix on bust mode while the shutter only does 3.7 frame/sec.
having a class 10 is "good to have " but not a MUST on the 550D however it a must for EOS 7D as the FPS is much higher and when shot in RAW.
while having a class 6 is a "must" if u intent to shot HD movies using 550D.
i tried shootng HD movies at max FPS using both de class 6 scandisk & canon gift toshiba 8GB class4. when play back can see the lag between frames.
*home test base on 550D mount on tripod shooting the same moving traffic street in 5min apart.
# judgment base on the smoothness of the vechicle crossing the recording frame.
in short.
no use HD movies mode on 550D - class 4 SDHC is good enough
if intent to shot HD movies & often - class 6 SDHC or SDXC !
* my bad, i got mix up with the two SD card pricing which i bought.lol

unfortunately, the free 8GB that comes with the 550D seems to be a class 4.

So which shop is the cheapest? Think of getting 550D tomorrow. Which shop got more free gifts?
a $16 free gift 8GB class 4. is good enough for photo shot but not HD movies. lol
if canon were to throw in a $30 +/- class 6 SD card...the MSRP for kit i 18-55IS will be S$1588 instead of $1544 liao....haha
*dun fault me for the MSRP for kit i as i am not sure and didnt bother to check price.
