Hi Guys, wondering anyone can help me with the lens hook. I thinking of getting a lens hook for my EF-S 18-55mm IS lens and ES 50mm f1.8 lens on my 550D. Is there a compatible single hook which can fit into on the 2 lens which are 58mm and 52mm in diameter respectively? And what are the average pricing for lens hook?

I do not own EF-S 18-55mm IS lens but U can try http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Lens-Hood-Canon-EF-28-90mm-18-55mm-EW-60C-EW60C-/220429794844?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_216&hash=item3352a3be1c

For ES 50mm f1.8 lens, I bought http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ES-62-62-L-Bayonet-Lens-Hood-CANON-EF-50mm-f-1-8-II-/330399637154?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Lens_Accessories&hash=item4ced5a5ea2 but still have not receive it.

I had order http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/EW-73B-Lens-Hood-Canon-EF-S-17-85mm-EW73B-73B-US-/320393464097?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_216&hash=item4a98f04921 for my EF-S 18-135mm IS lens.

BTW do look for Bayonet mount Lens Hood. Not those using screw one. Else you might not be able to cover the len cap.

the hoods u linked are dam small.. dun see the point in using them. also if u get bigger versions they look rather overkill on such a small lens

Is it small? There are many design in the eBay.

Anyway those I listed are design to be "similar (if not the same)" to the original canon lens hood intend for the respective lens listed. For me, so long it is cheap and serve the purpose.. :)

Hi everyone!

I've joined th3 550D about slightly more than a month ago and have been testing out the camera and still learning. Also, i've been reading on the 550D thread and have realised there's a few things i still need to get. I've ordered GGS screen protector from monstercamera and will be collecting tomorrow (can't wait for mailing) haha.

I've also realised my 18 - 135mm lens is not very good at taking close up shots of people. Not very sharp. Do you guys recommend that i get the canon EF 50mm f1/8 lens? I've heard many of you are using it. I'm thinking of going to Alan Photo tomorrow to take a look after collecting my GGS screen protector.

Also, i think i need to get a dry box/dry cabinet also but have no idea which to get. Is there a dry box available that i could adjust the humidity? So far, i've also been searching for lens hood for my 18 -135mm lens but can't find any.

Also, for tripod, as i will be going for a 2 week long europe trip in sept, i was thinking of carrying a tripod with me but have no idea what kinda tripod to get. Probably one that could fit into my 6 million dollar bag from crumpler?

Thanks in advance for your help! =)

Dry box can get from AP/NTUC/MSC for $23.90.Dry cab most shops have.If you've bothered to search mass sales there are a few sellers selling lens hood for the 18-135.

How to fit a tripod into a 6MDH?6MDH is quite small you know...

I think there are more advertisers in mass sales selling the hood other than MMC:)

Bought the lens hood from TK Photo last week @$15.

Try reading this site: http://cheesycam.com/?p=1176/

It does a review with a side by side comparison to the original Canon BG-E8 battery grip with Photti BP-550.

Personally, why I bought 3rd party product mainly because of $$$. Many a time, after using a product for a while, I will "upgrade" and notices that I actually spend a lot on those original accessories where other 3rd parties function the same.

u got ur grip from ebay as well?

compgen yours is the phottix battery grip? so far using it no issues?

Ya, mine is the Phottix grip.

I had been trying out the basic function. So far so good. Nice grip feeling too.

Had not tried the original. There is a online review here.

Will be bring it out this weekend to take photo (* excited *)
