it depend on wat u want? if u want to play with lens get the basic kit 1st then upgrade ur lens. If u want to start out with kit II is also ok but think abt it do u really need them.

I am planning to get mine these few weeks, but stuck to get Kit I + 55mm~250mm or Kit II itself? Anyone can help to share some recommendation on this one? and why you get Kit I or Kit II? Thx in advance

guys...

recently i have abit of problem... i was playing with AV model and i dunno wat did i adject in the end all my focus all gone blur... when i look through the hole i dont see my imagine at all ;( is there anyway to reset to it default stated or i have to play until i get back the right foucs?

Hi...you meant AV mode is it?

Many things come to mind (personal experience)...
1) did you turn off auto focus and set to manual , but forgot?
2) did you leave it with auto point focus? (ie not using center AF)
3) if 2) = yes... did you focus right on the dot?
4) considering AV..if you used a very large aperture very easy to go OOF if you mis-aimed

try to think if u did any of these...else..might wanna ask around for back-focusing/front focusing problems (try other modes..)

HI Guys,

just want to check with those who have bought from ebays that are not Singapore sellers.
Do you find that after confirming the orders, you tend to receive more spam mails or even "funny" oversea calls?

Surf Canon Price Lists (Singapore) Thread as a guide.

I bought my at SLRR @ S$1584 (cash, with GST) for my Kit II with 8GB Sandisk (Class 2) and Canon bag few weeks back.

From the Canon Price Lists, the original Canon Battery Grip BG-E8 about S$190.

Local sell Phottix BP-550D Premium Grip for S$130

I usually get stuff from eBay. The following are links for the Phottix BP-550D Grip and Phottix LP-E8 Battery.

1) Phottix BP-550D for Canon 550D Rebel T2i BG-E8 ONLY (abt S$80.25)
2) Phottix BP-550D for Canon 550D Rebel T2i BG-E8 with 2 x LP-E8 Battery (abt S$102.39)

Hmm... But I have been receiving spam mails and weird overseas calls before my purchases so I didn't really notice the increase. :)

Have bought 1 3rd party wired remote. Waiting to receive my BG and wireless remote.

Just a suggestion, you may want to use a prepaid number for your ebay acc in future.:D

I wonder if doing a reset to default settings will work? :dunno:

Hi Mavewhite,

I m a frequent buyer from eBay. Did not receive phone call from oversea.

As for spam email, I register all online stuff using a yahoo acc so cannot say for sure if spam increase, however so far, yahoo spam service did a pretty good job in isolating the spam emails.

Like what snowman mentioned, it really depends on what you want. I started with very little knowledge on dslr and didn't know much about changing lens so I bought a Kit II. Buying a Kit I + 55-250mm lens gives you more 'toys' to play with that can keep you occupied slightly longer than just a body+Kit lens. :D

I recently bought a wireless shutter release for my canoncamera on ebay and I notice an increase of spam. What more, today I receive s call starting with +99999271 which I hung up. Immediately afterwards, I received an oversea call but the person hang up after saying "hello".

Sorry, I think I am a bit paranoid.

I would recommend you to get the 550D body alone and get a Tamron 17-50 [non vc] f/2.8, then get a additional 55-250.

What is your budget???

I will be using Canon PPP for my 550D, and already saved a budget of 1.5k (still able to top up more).

For me I am using the dslr more for outdoor figure shootings, and some plane spotting if I have the chance (currently an owner of Powershot S5I IS), which I feel is about time to move on something better quality rather than just zooms.

Now my decision factor is going for 18-55mm + 55mm-250mm or 18-135mm which keeps me wondering which I should get.

55-250 plane spotting will be not so great.. 55-250mm is slow focus... normally for plane spotting use 100-400 L

ps: i am saving to my 24-70mm and 70-200mm .. currently using 50mm f/1.8 only.. so if you really need good lens, try to save it, and skip those unwanted lens

for the 70-200, you'll be getting the f4 or f2.8 from canon? with is?

wondering if u did research where sells the cheapest for this lens.

ok answer is 2, but i did focus on the right dot.... well it get blur even when i look through the look through hole. When i adject my lens in and out before i press on the shutter button it doesnt make much different too. I guess maybe i am using large aperture.

btw i remember i did adject the little small scroll at near the look through hole and after i adject it more toward right side it totally get mis focus. Now i take portiats, standard also not nice especially at indoor.

i always buy things from ebay non sg... not camara item but so far no problem. Spam mail is cannot be avoid, as for phone call from overseas is random so totally no because of that.

anyway ur paypal payment will only reflect ur register address and email address will not have ur contact no so how willl those ppl know ur hp no. The most call ur house only if they are that good at tracing no.

my clever sister bought the screen protector from ebay cause she lazy to go help me buy. If it stated as 550d i assume it will not dont fit my screen right?

Most people will see things sharp when the diopter scope is turn to the left unless you do not have good eyesight, adjust accordingly till the viewfinder looks sharp to you. :)

Your sister bought one for 550D why won't it fit 550D?Sure can wan what...

i dun think 100~400mm L will be on my list for a while....the 550d will stop my budget for a while, coz still have to consider some basic additional accessoires like UV filter, screen protector.

Is 18mm and 55mm really makes a lots of different on normal shooting?

Or else I might go for 550d Body + 55~250mm IS

yes, I read some review said Canon and Nikon main business is their LENS not their camera body.. so now thinking to get 2nd hand 70-200mm f2.8 IS.. the IS II is too expensive.. still lurking in BnS too see any good deal or not.. if buy new one, SLR and MS Color will be the cheapest in town.. (yet to check)
