Tip: Send in your lens + body to CSC to calibrate (free if they're both still under warranty).
My 18-55IS/55-250IS got sharper after that.
Been using my 500D for some heavy video-work as well and has been working very well (did a few sessions of 8-hour video/day across a few days) and reliably. Shutter count now at 14,000++ and no issues so far (TOUCH WOOD!!).
Sure, there's no 18mp, no ext mic option (use separate voice recorder with time-stamp), no 24fps vid option. So what? The 500D still works the way it's meant to and that's good enough for me![]()
i can see ur floor is glossy. it reflected the light to the wall. as such, dun use flash. but pump up ur iso and shoot. else, flash some where there is no glossy floor.Dear seniors, need some help here. I was taking a photo at night, with flash on in the house. Any idea what are those lines across the photo and how to prevent them? Thanks much...

Bros,
Got my dusty 500D out to take some shots of our tennis match last night but found that
the buffer was somehow stuck at 2 shots.( in continuous shooting mode, it takes 2 shots, pauses and then takes the 3rd, pauses and then takes the 4th )
Tried replacing the SDHC card with a freshly formatted one - no go
Tried changing picture size from jpeg+RAW, medium, small - no go

it should go up to 9 shots at one go even on raw...I'm using Kingston 8GB Class 6 SDs too.. Buffer is stuck at 2 shots despite shooting at small jpeg.
Right now its still fine for travel photography but i cant take any sports or fast actions
Thanks
Check if you have something like Auto Lighting Optimiser or Highlight tone priority engaged. Such things increase the load on the Digic IV and lead to slower output.it should go up to 9 shots at one go even on raw...
hmmm 2 shot is a bit too extreme low...
