Official Canon 500D user Thread (part 2)

congrats.
i got mine about 1month ago.

lets get this thread active. can do so by posting pictures to the thread.... so we can discuss certain effects or methods to take them

Does 500D have any functions to take panoramic shots that can be stitched afterwards?
No for 500d having any automated functions to take panoramic shots.

Stitching of shots can be done with a 3rd party app

Joining this thread! jyar. finally 500D is mine;)

Yay! 500D thread is coming alive! :D

So happy to still see so many 500D owners around! I thought with the launch of the 550D, my relatively new 500D will become obsolete!

Great tips from the 500D owners here! :)

More than Good enough for me as beginner in DSLR world.

Beside that the different mostly at video feature and megapixels.

Only a bit regret to take 18-55 kit instead of 18-200

What kinda 3rd party app? So if we wanna do it manually, we need to do it with a tripod i assume, to preserve the continuity of the pic?

I use photoshop's photomerge function to stitch my panoramic shots. There are others too, like Autostitch, but i have not tried them b4

Tripod is not a must in this context.
More important areas are the aperture, shutter, iso is set (manual mode) for all the photos. I will usu set the same for all the shots required. However, you may change the exposure if some areas are too dark or bright, but try not to change it too dramatically.

Hi, nice to know this place and this long thread:)
I am preparing to buy 500D, never use DSLR before. my friend suggested me to buy a 15-85 lens, instead of the kit 18-55.
So i wanna know how much is the lens 15-85? I use it for landscape, portrait, that's all.
Btw, can i go to sim lim square to buy one or Funan? I'm a bit afraid to be cheated at Sim Lim
