I bought my whole kit from Harvey Norman to make use of the installment plan. The flash was at the promo price of $119, i think. Hope that helps.

If it's under warranty, why not? Maybe you should borrow another lens to take another dark picture and see if the spot still appears. If so, it might be your lens and not your camera body. My five cents worth.

i've tried 2 different lens, both resulting the same problem.. sucks manz.

hi 500D owners , i'm considering to have ultra wide angle lens for 500D body . Help me please to choose which one is the best for price and IQ ? Canon EF-S 10-24mm , Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 , or Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 , thanks .

can someone advice on the camera w attach len, how to place in bag....faced downward?

hei trueb1ue, you mean the tote bag is too small to put the cam with lens attached inside it? it must be very small then..

i'm waiting to collect my 500d too, maybe should get the normal camera bag instead of the tote from them.

The best is undoubtably the Canon 10-22. It has garnered almost universal praise as being one of the best lens for Canon 1.6x bodies. It’s also the most expensive by at least 300dollars from the options you’ve mentioned.

I’m still saving for mine!

anyone tried the 500D video? i tried full HD, very lag, then change to HD, slightly better, but still lag, not smooth unlike my video cam. anyone experience the same?

i am using the 8gb given free by canon. i think is class 4, understand we need class 6 for video. But anyone using class 6 and see the changes, will it still lag and jerky at HD.

i have a class 6 card.

i took a brief video clip of abt 30 secs to test it and it seemed fine. I think it was in full HD.

I don't really feel that people can be obsolete only the gears, I have loads of friends that have older camera than what we have but they still get great pictures. And to get good pictures is not because you upgraded from P&S to an SLR you have to practice. Read in the forums especially in the Critic area, although some people can be brutal you will learn loads of things from that section. Another thing I also don't think that it is good to compare video capture of 500D to a video cam, it is just an extra feature for most new SLR. I might stir things up but I am a proud owner of this great camera, I am not there yet that's why I keep on learning.

Thanks.

Since the days of computer helpdesk, users never RTFM. (If you wanna know what that means, it stands for "Read(ing) the f(***)rigging manual)". I should not be surprised anymore ... be it for computer, camera, or even other electronic devices.

For video, it is recommended that you use Class 6. I am not sure what Canon gave you but you have to check on the card itself. And it is not possible to capture full 1920 X 1080 Full HD video without lag as it captures movies at ONLY 20 fps (frames per second).

Referring to my soft copy of the EOS 500D Operations Manual, if you turn to page 123, there is a section that is grayed out referring to the video capture rate.

And on Page 121 of the same manual, it also grayed out the section regarding the recommended SD card for movie recording.

And if you just don't want to go searching for the manual in your store room, here is a link to download the electronic copy of the manual to your harddisk so that it is always handy when you have to do your homework!

HTH.

I asking how to place the "camera with len" attach? downlward? upwardward? sideway in?

if straight go in the width is a bit tight as the width is narrow...........so i want to know the correct way to place the camera in the bag then i can advice u if the bag is big or small.

Anyway the bag look like gal gal bag leh, don know pple will laught at me or not if i use it.

Hi 500D'ers , I've a plan to have a dry cabinet for my 500D Kit I + 50-250mm lens , i think 60 litter should be enough , but still confuse to choose which is a good brand ? help me guys to share what kind of dry cabinet do u used till now ? thanks :)

Hi people :D, I've been using my 500D for a few months, however mine is Japan version so it's called Kiss X3 (which sort of sounds sexier IMO)

Actually 30L one is enough to put ur gear.
But for future expansion, you can either get a 50L or 60L or more depending on the gear you are tagetting to get in the near future.
