Hi all,

Am very new to the world of DSLRs and am currently interested in getting a EOS 600D. My main purpose is for filming (short films, nature etc) and I have a pretty low budget since I've just started (hopefully below 1000) and I don't mind second hand as long as it's relatively new and with warranty. What lens would you suggest I get first if my goal is mainly to create short films? I have read around and realised that the 50mm f1.8 is the standard one should have for DSLR filming. How true is this? Appreciate any advice given!

Do you use liveview? Liveview eats up a lot of battery juices.

welcome Nico Yap. I'm also new with dslr cam. previously I playing very manual camera YASHICA. now start to pratise my manual shot for the cam. we can share and discuss it here. just now I went to Esplanade to snap some photos. I shall upload here for some improvement advice.....

Hi everyone again ~ i meet with another problem, this time is with the autofocus.. When i switch lens into autofocus mode, taking picture with it, it seems like it focus quite a long time, then when i see it on my screen, the focus box become red.. Or the targeted item is not properly focus.. Is this normal ?

when focus box becomes red, and you hear a beep sound, it means it is focus-ed on that point. are you shooting in low-light condition?

if i not wrong, i shooting in low-light enviroment.. am i doing the wrong thing ? o.o

focusing in low-light needs longer time due to the low amount of light available to create enough contrast on the subject for the camera to pick up.

Can't wait to see your photos, but I believe that the policy is such that you must have posted 50 messages before you can share photos on this site. Please anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.

The instructions on how to do it are somewhere on the site. I remember reading them after I had joined. I can't remember where they are anymore... perhaps someone can be of some help here too.

The best place to buy 2nd hand equipment is the B&S on this forum.

The best place (generally) to buy new stuff, is the Funan Mall. There are other places but the most concentrated area of reputable shops is in Funan. Beware of Bally Photo however, they have a bad reputation.
