Had any bro here match their 600D with Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 lens?

The pics quality outstanding?
Thinking of getting one to replace my kit lens 18-55mm.

I'm also considering an upgrade, although I think I have yet to master enough skills to upgrade :D

The usual suspects are Canon 17-55mm f2.8, Tamron 17-50mm f2.8.

Here's review of the 17-70mm: http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/517-sigma1770f284osapsc. It seems like good value for money.

First post :) Been a silent reader reading this forum.
I just got my 600D Kit II yesterday from TK.

Welcome to Clubsnap and this users thread. Have fun shooting :)

Any 600D users encountered the same image problems that I have below?

ISO 1600, 1/45, F3.5, 100% crop, no flash, in-camera noise reduction set at Low, increase fill light post editing, no noise reduction at post editing - really noisy pic.

ISO 1600, 1/45, F3.5, 100% crop, no flash, blue fringing around collar and fingers

Or did I get a badly made 600D body? Camera is only 3 weeks old. Outdoor images at ISO 200 were also too noisy for comfort

ISO 200, 1/90, F3.5, no flash, no editing, 100% crop

Any advice? Thanks

I'm not sure but the last photo (ISO 200) certainly looks noisy. All taken with 18-55mm?

Yes, all taken with 18-55mm Kit1 lens. The lens came with the 450D I had before I changed to the 600D body, had no image issue when used with the 450D. Hope I don't regret changing camera bodies.

I hope so too. Maybe you can try shooting more in good lighting conditions and ISO 100 and see the noise is still there. If problem persist maybe visit CSC? Any experts can advise?

Thanks! You r joining the 23Jul outing right? See u then.

Hi All,

Been a reader of the forums...now started off as a poster as well.

Just got a 600D...from MS Color... cost me $1499 + free gifts to be redeemed from CSC
Just to check with folks out here... the free gift includes a bag + 8GB card.

The bag I got is NOT a crumpler... is that the case, or do we get a crumpler bag for 600d? The CSC staff told me that crumpler bags are for 60d onwards... :what:

Thanks

Welcome to this users thread :)

I'm not sure but maybe the crumpler bag offer has ended? Those who bought 600D 3 weeks ago (during PC Show period) received the crumpler bag (5MDH).

Anyway it's a 'ok good' bag only. I suggest you to use the free Canon bag for the time being and slowly upgrade to nicer and bigger (when you kena the BBB virus) ones :D

Hi all, whats the size of the screen protector for 600d?
from the reviews its 3 inch, I bought a 3inch but its too small

Hi All,

Thiking of buying a crumpler Haven (L) to accomodate my 600d + 18-155 (Kit 2) and a quarfie messanger bag to hold other accessories, charger and an iPad or maybe my macbook.
Please comment on users using Haven and Quarfie....

Are you shooting in RAW? Looks like it because of the lack of Chroma noise.(Color grain) Whats left is the Luminance Noise (Black grain) which is also created when excess sharpening is applied by the raw converter.

Lightroom 3 loves to apply abit of sharpening to my images which creates this kind of grain for my 7D (same sensor). This might be the problem.

I bought a canon eos 600d from hong kong, I still can register online warranty to enjoy the additional three mths of warranty?

Hi ShaneKua, yes i was shooting in RAW and with the in-camera sharpening set at 4 points rather than the factory default of 3. This Chroma noise (or lack there of) is the cause of the blue fringing also? I tried taking some more pics yesterday under different conditions, ISO 400, 800 with F 4.5/5. I just felt the images were not as sharp as those coming from the 450D. My colleague was saying probably the focus setting of the camera to the lens was maybe not quite right. Anyway, I will bring it in to CSC and see what they say.

Hi, do you know where to buy the Crumpler Haven (L) in Sg? Got the same 600D + 18-135 kit as well. Hopefully can put into my Crumpler Barney Rustle Blanket.
