I was thinking of getting a Canon 24-105 lens for my 5D (to replace my 28-135) however, now I am reconsidering. Yesterday I was out taking pictures of professional acrobats with my standard walk-about lens, the 28-135, and the photos came out well enough that I'm thinking maybe I'll just keep the 28-135. What do you think? Are there clear advantages of going with the 24-105 other than the build quality?
Here is an example of one of the photos I took from yesterdays photo expedition. It is a jpg straight out of the camera with zero processing. The first is the original size and the second is a 100% crop:
Original Size:
100% Crop:
Of the 300 plus photos that I took yesterday, 99% were keepers. This was with servo mode turned on. I really liked the colours that the 5D produced and the sharpness of the unprocessed photos were more than acceptable. I shot everything in jpg and I wonder how much better the results would have been if I went RAW with processing.
So did I get lucky and end up with a good copy of the 28-135? Should I still consider moving on to the 24-105?
