Yes it does. The 5D MkII has 21mp whilst the 5D MkI has 12. The advantage of the greater mp's is the ability and freedom to crop more. The disadvantage is the space it takes up on your hard drive particularly if you shoot RAW.

i think it's almost on par... i heard both 5D and MK2 users who used both, say the colors on 5D classic is nicer and naturer.

hahah.. i think their eyes are powerful.. bcos DxOmark said so too...

5D register better color than 5dmk2 according to them...

both have good picture quality when printing large ( depending on how large you talking about, if billboard size don't think you'd be using 5d)


looks like current price for a classic is 1.4 with grip.

Mine so far so gd since july 2007. The only major servicing is the fitting of the mirror plate mod when i sent in for general cleaning some time back.

At first they diagnose with PCB malfunction, paid 300+ to repair, 1 week later same problem called the technician, he ask me to send in again.

In the end they replace the entire mirror box due to wear and tear for free.

I bought mine 2nd hand last year. It only had about 15,000 shutter actuation's on it so relatively brand new. I've had no problems with mine. In fact, I have a 7D too but tend to use the 5D more. The only thing I miss is the better LCD and liveview available on the 5DMkII (and 7D). Apart from that, the 5DMkI is a classic camera that produces top notch full frame photos. I will replace it only when the 5DMkIII is introduced and then only maybe....

Of cos first hand. Then was still very expensive and at that time also not many shops carry new sets already. Fortunately CP still have so quickly bought the camera and grip at $3570 and $400 respectively, nett price.

That's back in mid 2007 mah, at that time FF prices are still very high.

I believe the 'colour' depends on the processor. 5D (and the 20D I used to have) use the DIGIC II and they have a similar, more natural look. The 5D2 (and the 7D that I have now) use the DIGIC IV and it produces a richer look.

For portraits, I prefer DIGIC II, but for landscape, the richer colour of DIGIC IV might be better.
