use gss protector brudda, the thickness will make it hard for anything to penetrate it

50 and 85 range are quite close, you'll be able to live with just either

both sigma 50 and 85 are godlike, you can choose to upgrade your current 85 to sigma's, or get a new sigma 50, happiness with either i assure you

Mind to share where u bought it? Or any in Mass Sale sells it? Artworkfoto don't have it :(

I got it as a birthday gift from my ex-gf around 3 years back. U can go to the Crumpler boutiques to view but now they've changed their logo to the sewn-on type instead of the round one previously.

I got my screen protector from Martin Fields. I ordered at 10am and they delivered at 6pm same day.

Would recommend Crumpler industry disgrace if you sling your cam on one shoulder often, it does not slip off easily and is comfy when used on your neck.

Another good strap is from Optech, either the classic or pro loop versions. Will recommend this if you dun sling your cam on one shoulder often cos it tends to slip off. Its slightly springy cos of the neoprene material.

Thanks for the explanation. I will order later.

Wow, this crumpler one seems the popular recommended choice. Ok I will go search for the boutique location. Me seldom go shopping....:)

Martin Fields is good, using one on my LX3, need to get one for my 5D too.

ive used optech -> crumpler -> black rapid -> optech.

switched back to optech cause i find it more comfortable than the crumpler.

sometimes i use the black rapid. but the first version so not really comfy.

Do note that it also comes in different colours and designs.

I just bought the optech pro-loop. Called up crumpler and was told the industry disgrace black colour is out of stock islandwide and stock can only arrive in 3-4 weeks. The optech is very comfy. I think it is a good recommendation. I can't wait a month for the crumpler so just bought the optech one :)

I felt that too. Price not that expensive too :)

By the way, for those of you who have experience using the Sigma 85mm on the 5D, do you guys feel that the siggy IQ beats the Canon 85mm f1.8 by alot?I like the C85 1.8 alot. Kiwira 's suggestion earlier really made me scratch my head now...my initial plan was to keep the 35mm and C85mm and add a Sig 50mm. But changing the C85mm to Sig 85mm seems like a viable option also... By the way I bought the 5D mainly to satisfy my lust of taking portrait :)

I got it. The 135L is the best lens I have used so far, though never bought before. Rented it and fell in love with it, but budget a little over. Guess I should really just save up for this, instead of going the sigma way.

So I will have the trinity of the Canon FL, 35, 85 and 135, although the first 2 is not L :p

Wow that's long. So far after using mine for 3 years, still as comfortable as ever. I've tried the optech but don't really like it so I stayed with my stock strap until I got the Crumpler one.

it used to be my streets lens, here's one to share

sigma 85 is the rival for c 85 1.2 ii and n 85 1.4 d/g, and even the zeiss, i find it unfair for it to be compared to c 85 1.8

sigma's 9 rounded blades are their traits in their premium lines (50, 85, 24-70 hsm [the new version]), bokeh is super smooth and very pleasing, and all are extremely sharp with very high hit rate in accuracy

here's one random with s 85

there are many other sources out there for direct comparisons for the sigma 85 with c 85 1.2 ii, but if you've read the above enough, you'll understand which is the real deal

a grey c 85 ii costs 3k, i would have been happy to pay 4k for an s 85 instead, but no, they are only less than half of that, and that itself is unbelievable

o3u4175.jpg

the above was taken at an event last year with the c 85 1.2 ii but with a 1ds iii - focusing is two times slower, less accurate hit rate wide open, chroma is no better than s 85

keep in mind that a 5d doesnt have af tuning, using 3rd party lens on it may cause you headaches at times when af misses

but if you can afford the working space, a longer telephoto range (200mm and beyond) will be more ideal (my preference) for portraits

Thanks for taking time to show these examples.

Will u guys recommend a good 3rd party flash to pair with the 5D? I heard Nissin is not compatible. Is that true?

Sigma lens are worth it imo, used the 12-24mm, 50-500, and now using the 120-300mm for sports, AF and build quality is pretty good for me. I would say good value for money.
