Wanted to ask too, will getting new batteries for the 5D be a problem? Are they still freely available in stores?

A new battery should be no problem. I bought a 5D classic last year and was able to get an extra battery for it easily. You should be able to get one at the shops in Funan or Peninsula.

The diff is that yr lens will be wider and less tele and also EF-S lenses will no longer be compatible. In addition, there will not be anymore non-creative modes on the dial.
Ok, thanks Snoweagle!
It an amazing camera IQ wise. But I sure hate the auto-focusing. It is not very sensitive. BTW did any of you notice that the shutter open and close quite violently? Can really feel the vibrations when it opens.
LOL yup, auto-focusing is wols... Shutter is more forceful as what you said!
5D are still able to meet all my expectations. So far I'm very happy with it.
Unless there's a new generation of 5D that can convince me to let it go...
Here's one of my humble shot recently... :)

Ok, thanks Raydio!

Went to test test and learn how to use the cam at Fort Canning yesterday, I must say that I'm pretty impressed by this old dame!

24-105L shot wide open, racked at 105mm.

yes it is still a pretty power cam. lol.

Hi, My pictures are showing faint dark spots (nothing serious) on the highlight. I suppose my 5D's sensor needs a cleaning. Can anyone tell me how much Canon charges for cleaning, how fast can they service it, and what else do they do during the service? Also, has anyone tried self-cleaning with the swap commonly sold in the photo shops, and do they work? Thanks for your response.

Sensor cleaning is $21+ inclusive of GST and only takes an hr before collection. I'd rather have them clean it than DIY as if anything happens can claim.

Sounds good to me. Thanks for the info. JS

Hi 5D group. I got a simple quick question for you guys. I have been using 7D for quite sometime. Im using 17-40 and 70-200 for my lens.
Apprently i wanna go full frame so in short i sold my 7D, coz going fullframe is my next move.
So you already been assuming that i have no budget hence i eyeing on 5D1 first. Is it still good to buy used 5D from BnS? Or shall i just go ahead 5D2?
Am i on the right track of disposing my 7D to go fullframe? Or is there another option for me. Thanks a lot in advance

think u just go straight to the 5D2, you already sold off your 7D, i take it as half leg in to a FF. lol

u can try your luck everyonce in awhile can see a good ( from photos look good ) 5D1, but hard to tell it's a pretty old camera and most of the 5Ds on the BNS have seen alot of action.

U might just want to go for the 5D MK II instead but some users told me that 5D MK II's colour reproduction is not as gd as 5D.

but budget is a bit of a issue. i still need to top up a lot to get my hands on used 5D2.
yeah your correct. almost all the 5D1 at BnS are badly beaten up already. shutter ranging from 20k-50k onwards and still pricing at around 1.2k maybe if i ask for 1k will that be alright?

I wanna go to full frame already coz of my ef lenses. so im asking your guys if 5D1 is the way to go.
5D2 is a bit off budget for me at the moment.

I have both of them. Both are great camera. The color rendering seems to be the same however the 5D classic exposure is normally higher by 1/3 stop than the 5D2

so your saying that the 5D1 has better IQ than the 5D2? is that what you mean? it's like IQ over technology.

My quote was feedback by a few of my friends who're using the MK II but for me it does look similar and must be compared on a computer screen, taken with the exact same settings with the same lens.
