can try sony service centre at wisma. that way the lens will be serviced by a km tech. as for pricing, i helped a friend call around a few shops asking for quotes for fixing sticky aperture, and surprisingly, the sony price was about the same as the other shops.

don't have much experience with lens repair though, so maybe the others will have different inputs.

REALLY!

you mean the ex-Minolta Technicians can service my dinosaur lens? the old all-metal MAXXUM ones?

just try lor. no harm right :)

Some lenses, like the 135mm f/2.8 are discontinued and unrepairable.
Mine had a jerky feeling during manual focus, and was told tt when I sent the lens in. Still, I dunno how but they managed to make it feel almost new again.

Your mileage may vary, esp if it's major repairs.

Cheers
=)

They managed to repair my stuck zoom of the old Minolta 28-135.

No harm trying to ask them to do their best in getting your lens fixed.

How much was the repair?

by the way, anyone tried David at the Adelphi basement?

My repair was just the $10.50 diagnostic charge :)

Lens service and clean-up of dust at rear element... around $40.

Both at SONY Service center. :)

bro, from my experience, original NP-400 (the type with "gold-plated" contacts) cost around SG$120 :o

I usually buy the 3rd party ones. from experience, these have better power life than the original & cost about $30 each :)

eh, dun generalise lor... u bought at 37 cos its named as clearing stock...

whereas andrewlee bought at 120 is due to sales...

if everybody goes around selling at cost, then u can forget about all the retail shops already... its in no way cheating, cos Sony need to clear off their minolta stock, and would make no sense for them to market and support minolta products.

i dun think he bought it at 120. andrew, is it those people tell you that original cost 120 to so-called "trick" you into buying their batts? correct me if that isn't what happened. cos even MS colour sells NP400 at around SGD60-70 last time when i needed it for my Dimage A1.

Wow, so many enthusiastic responses.

Yah, actually i didn't buy the $120 battery. just saw it in one of those shops on the top floors of funan, when I bought one of the last pcs of 5600HS in funan. but the sales girl told me that it's the real fixed-price.
