U have to go oneday~ Summer shd be quite hot in San Francisco.
Think the best time to travel should be ard Oct to Dec, where weather is generally cool ard yr round..

If you're put off by the long flight, my suggestion, if you don't mind an extra day and some $, is to fly Singapore -> Tokyo -> US. Stay a night somewhere near Narita. That would break the journey up quite nicely.

Couple of years ago, I was in Orlando when there was a shuttle launch. We were about 100km away from the launch site but the shuttle Discovery was visible as it raced at astonishing speed towards the sky. Quite an experience even being so far away. I can't imagine the feeling if watching near the launch site.

Grand Canyon was spectacular and breathtaking~ Too bad when we went the snow stopped 2 days back~
