'No Photography' Plz...

how come no mainstream english paper de? hmmmm....
mainstream articles usually are "uninterested" in such topics, unless something big like a security guard assaulting a photographer for taking photos.

writing in to ST forum may get a reply on the papers though

a journalist from wanbao juz called me. they are keen with the news too.
they are coming to meet me at my home for an interview now.
i asked if they need to take a snap of me for the news? the journalist says yes and the
next thing i say was ' dont shoot directly can or not har?' hahaha :bsmilie:

anyway, am preparing my lines, will post report later. ;)

Did u tell them about the apparent fact that caucasians are normally not stopped from taking pics but non-caucasians are?

Or not shooting in esplanade and NLB building?

yes, semua quoted. :)

Whatever the final written report will be, it's good to create public awareness about the 'rules of engagement' and shooting rights of photographers.

If the report is positive and it states clearly that photographers do have a right to take pictures in public places/ buildings and shall not be harassed, I will laminate the report and keep it in my wallet all the time. Of cos I must take care not to fold into yeobt's face lah, haha :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

only WB has half of my face. (the usual photographer's pose) keke ;)

SM dont have. but if SM came out first tomorrow, i believe WB will scrap the news. :embrass:

I'm guessing that if the article is really published... it will focus on Chinatown cases that yeobt mentioned, maybe on the "photography fees"... dun think they will even mention double standards or the law aspect.

hi

a question.

let say we are eating at a cafe/restaurant. and i am to whip out my camera to take a picture of my kids or family. then approached immediately by a waiter and told not to do photography of the shops interior. would arguing that im not photographing the interior but my family be a valid argument? Apologies if this has been asked b4

cheers
Shaz

has it happened for you? i think it sounded foolish for the waiter to do that. most would be even delighted to help customers take photograph. in the matter of service (different from the security guard), it would be stupid of the waiter to interfere. that is unless you are blocking a busy walkway or going too near their kitchen.

hi

yes it has happened to me b4 but it would not be nice if i am to mention the name of the restaurant. not much of an issue to me. but i just brought it up to know the advise/comments from the other photographer which is vy much appreciated.

thanks

Cheers

nothing to do with nice or not. they gave u bad service. it is within your right to spread word of mouth about it.

i bring my dslr to restaurants for family dinners.
i shoot like there's no tomorrow.

i even take pictures of the dishes before my family digs in.

had never been stopped before.

if i'm ever stopped, i'll give them hell.
just because i'm holding a professional dslr, that doesnt mean i will use the images commercially or copy the presentation of their dishes.duh....

one more interesting point for debate is that, have you guys ever noticed, that it's usually OK for photography with idiot pns cam compared to a big-in-your-face eos mk1 or d3x?

coz those are soul catchers.

comon,
a pns can even have better resolution than a dslr.
and if i'm a terrorist, of course i would rather carry a pns as opposed to a d3x with 70-200 afs.

dont these people use their brains?:dunno:

this sat i'm going to another renown restaurant for mother's day dinner.

and because of this thread, i'm going to shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot like there's no tomorrow.
really eager for some manager to come approach me.
