Apollo Bay, Australia.

I'm currently touring the Great Ocean Road and will be driving up to Sydney, passing by Kiama and Wollongong. Hopefully good skies will follow :bsmilie:

Melbourne Star

Real reflection, not digitally flipped. It was rainy all day, and I was there to recee for sunrise. But when I saw how still the water is (almost not moving!), I ran back to take my camera and shot some frames.

very beautiful, i bet it was real cold as well =)

Thanks. Well it isn't that bad actually, IF there's no wind. But when the wind blows it can be cold enough that i had to put on gloves. It's just like when u try the fans in shopping malls "wah shiok ah" the cold becomes colder

"IF" =)

i went in late march, already cannot tahan ... daytime still can go out shoot, night time hide indoors

Yeah it was really cold!

I am disappointed at how some members of a prominent photography group Mentorgraphians had conducted themselves and how the members stood up to support the selfish act of bringing a huge number of photographers to a HDB stairway to shoot fireworks. I feel very disheartened and very discouraged from shooting fireworks after the nasty encounter which followed a previous nasty encounter with another group of photographers.

I don't care much whether I get the shot or not. I care how the photography community, in particular land/cityscape shooters, will be judged by outsiders if the behaviour of bringing one gang down and setting up furnitures to relax and using water bottle to chope place. We have seen other genres getting bad press for the irresponsible actions by a handful and it is a handful which is enough to taint the name of the community. Hence, I lay my head down and fight against such behaviours, which sickens me to read people defending those who were guilty of such a thing. Someone even lay down a threat against me.

It is my hope that photographers will remember that we are humans before photographers. You want to enjoy yourself as much as others want to enjoy themselves. If your selfish irresponsible act causes someone else to be discouraged and not wanting to shoot anymore, what good does your action bring?

Now, for something unrelated, one of my shots from Sydney during my recent trip!

I just want to add on to nitewalk's statement above and below is how I felt about this issue on hand.

In the recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of people taking up photography, be it for leisure or work purposes. Surely there are bad eggs amongst the good ones and it was evident during the month of May and June when everybody was rushing to grab their shots of the SEA Games' fireworks. Unruly and over zealous behaviours were among the top of the list.

Couple of weeks ago, I was at one of the fireworks hot spots to shoot sunrise and I met a couple of residents who told me about the problems they had came across over the last 2 to 3 weeks(SEA Games period). One of them said that due to the long wait for the fireworks, some photographers had placed their feet against the walls to relief their fatigue, resulting in dirty footprints which had to be covered up with a fresh coat of paint. Other issues included shifting of residents' potted plants and rowdy individuals.

I am no saint but I believe in taking nothing but pictures, leaving nothing but memories and killing nothing but time while I am on location and waiting for the right light to present itself.

Besides being friendlier to each other, I really hope that the hobbyist photography community can also be more considerate to the society at large. All these positive actions will add up and aid in preserving locations for future explorations where more photos can be made.

sorry to hear that, i guess sometimes people get "too enthusiastic" over a secret/hidden location that they will be able to capture the best ever image the world has never seen, and have that mind-blowing image on natgeo cover which would also help put them on the cover of time magazine as the best photographer of the century, become famous and make lots of money.

if that's not the case ... then i also duno why already

sidenote - hope you enjoyed your holiday =)

This is the third time I have shot here, and clearly having shot it twice, this didn't feature highly in terms of priority on my list of places to shoot. I just reached Sydney from Wollongong and I was very sick and only gotten better in the afternoon.

Just as the rain stopped, so I thought to myself since I didn't manage to get the blue hour shot (the sunset was dismal during my first visit, and it rained immediately after the epic sunset on my second visit), why not go for this. In my second visit, the sky was pretty odd looking and this time, the sky was pretty odd too, it just exploded into a dark mix of blue and deep orange, much to the ooh and ahh amazement of those around me.

This was from one of the sunrise at the Twelve Apostles. Although the Sun was hiding behind some clouds, there was a nice mix of blue and pink. :)
