Lovely shot for #286.

Don't mind me asking but how is the clear reflection of the buildings on the water done? Long exposure ? Or just excellent pp?

#287

An on-going project to document the architecture in the last kampong in mainland Singapore. The only house which can be captured in the afternoon light whereas the rest were more suited for a morning capture.

Handheld shot taken on TS-E 17mm and some minor tonal adjustment.

Wow! Using Tilt/shift lens. Great!

Sorry that I posted 2 times, kan-cheong finger ;p

This is a vertorama image of 3 frames with 5 exposures each for the top two frames and 2 exposures for the bottom frame, manually blended and stitched. The rain last night was perhaps an indication of the things to come and I had to run through 2 dogs who tried to chew a chunk off my leg but only could eat my dust.

The cloud was actually due to the fireworks from the DBS event several weeks ago. I think this is a decent place to take the laser show apart from the usual places. Will revisit some other day.

Shot on Pentax K-01+Sigma 10-20. Found back my love for using the Pentax setup and technicalities aside, I do like this handy body a lot. The lack of viewfinder doesn't affect me the least bit as I realise I don't even use the viewfinder of the OMD when I had that. I guess my usage of the tilt-shift lens made me much more comfortable using live view. The colours and dynamic range did not disappoint. On the ground, you probably can't tell the difference in dynamic range between 5d2, K5 and K-01. I could feel the difference in terms of my bracketing and my thought process being affected by it, but this time round, it does feel closer to the K5.

#294

Taken on Pentax K-01+Samyang 8mm

Finally gave in to temptations and got a fisheye and absolutely love the price to performance and build of this little gem! The changing of aperture reminded me of old lenses and it is a neat little lens which sits well in my bag. The image quality is satisfying so I will be having some fun with this lens in time to come!

Saw the haze last night and saw an opportunity for this, which I felt was a good thing because the sky was otherwise cloudless and the haze might have made it easier for me to control the exposure. Didn't do the shot I envisioned as I ran around like an excited little boy with his new toy so forgot to take the shot I wanted.

An alternative take on Fullerton Bay Hotel where the interior is done to death with fisheye lenses. I have always wanted to catch curved traffic trails and in here I saw an opportunity, where the traffic trails gives a context to the shot which people may not immediately know what is this place if they are not familiar with this area.

Out of This World

Taken today using Pentax K-01+Samyang 8mm FE and manually blended 5 exposures with two repeated exposures to correct highlights

This was what I envisioned before my first visit to Garden by the Bay with a fisheye lens. Well, somewhat. The haze made the darker shade of blue quite uneven, not the shade of navy blue I like. Therefore, I settled for a lighter shade of blue using lighten mode during blending. This is probably one of the few outdoor scenes one can shoot in such hazy condition.

The Last Meal

First shot in a series to keep some memories of Empress Theatre. I used to pass by this area often and never went in as I didn't go out often when I was young. As I walked around, I thought it is a place with memories for some people and thought about the places I frequent and what about one day when these places are going to be demolished.

Contemplated a different framing, that was to let the table lead in straight, but settled for a diagonal leading in to include the bowling alley below to give an idea of where this is. Personally, I feel it is less challenging to frame it without the bowling alley in terms of blending. I still let some part of the highlights blown and it would certainly be of a different feel to retain all of the highlight details.

This is a perspective I had wanted to capture for very long ever since I first used this bridge a few months back. I would say the contrast between the regular structure and the curves in the foreground caught my attention. In my mind, I thought the light trails would add something to this shot and I may redo it with stronger trails.

Panorama image of 3 vertical frames of 3 exposures each manually blended to control the highlights

This is a place I frequent very much nowadays and I was reminded of Stefan's work of Rise of The Sembawang Colony especially in how similar the curves of the HDB appear in both places. Instead of going to the same place to shoot the same photo, I wanted to find some other place which retains the essence of what attracted me in that photo, that was the curves in the shot.

Just check the Google Maps for the Empress Theatre, the place is all seal and block up, the pic#297 still able to access and take photo or the place is totally gone now? :)
