Nissin Di866 Problems

Hi there, I'm having problems with my Nissin di866 mounted in my EOS450d. Every time a try to take a photo, setting AUTO mode on my flash, each photo seems to be terribly underexposed. The opposite happens afer setting the flash to manual mode: every shot is overesposed.
Does anyone know why this happens? I suppose it's synchro error, but don't know really.

i have a Nissin di866 canon mount, and i bought it abt month ago and i used gp2700mh rechargeable batteries to it, i can max fire the flash close to 1-20 shots.. battery is getting flat so fast

will it be a prob with my UNIT or the batteries that im using.. please help to answer.. im so disappointed...and thinking weather to change to a canon 430ex due to this prob.. please advise

I didn't consciously keep track of the number of shots. But definitely not 1-20, more like 200 or even more. Oops, forgot to say that I am using eneloop.

Probably not ur flash. Get a multimeter to check the voltage of your batteries after the test. Most probably one of them is a goner. Either try to recondition it or throw it away.

Was shooting with my nissin 866 + newly charged eneloop batteries today. took more than 100 shots and hasn't change batteries yet. But then I am always on manual mode with the nissin and rarely needed more than 1/2 power. hope this helps.

hi im new here. wanna ask do they manage to fix the overheat issue on di866? my unit still underwarranty , when shooting during afternoon, or morning, sometimes after a few flash it will show overheat and im force to shut down and reset or take out batteries to reset to wwork again, its bothersome, im not even shooting continuous, but only -2ev to -1.7ev in Highspeed ttl mode... regret getting this instead of 580exII...can i send back to service center to fix this problem?

Hello Guys! Just to ask if there is anybody here who had experienced that the Di866 is always firing in full power even though you're in a manual mode with 1/128 (off/on camera). Is there a way to solve this problem? Or I need to send for service repair. Thanks!
