D90 is NOT point and shoot camera.

you need a macro lens to do macro. rotating the selector to macro mode will only set the camera settings to ones that are most ideal for macro shooting. it doesnt enable close in shooting. that is determined by your minimum focusing distance. which is in turn determined by your lens used.

I see... no wonder i can't get the effect when switching to manual mode. So roughly cheap macro lens how much?

I'm using the D300 right now. No complains. Would go for the D700 if I have the budget. I think the D90 is really good camera. Just as good as the D300 I think. Probably D300 is better with ISO performance. No idea. But on bright sunny day, D90 is just as good. :)

I went for the D300 mainly because of the feel of the body and better ISO performance. D90 felt just as good, but I prefer the camera with a bit of weight.

take the leaflets from the IT show... bring it to one of those shops and get them to offer u a better price... i done that last year and i got my D60 at a good price

doubt you can get much from IT show... they don't really carry tripod except one china brand or something like that...
wasn't too impressed with the quality of the tripods.

might not see blower there too... mustly the camera booths are selling cameras and not accessories.
you can buy the SD or CF card though... plenty there
oh, one other thing is battery charger from east gear and lots of AA batteries.
