He meant it's a new released model so easily 2nd hand is still with warranty :)

small one is 100+.... a lot of ppl using the digicabi....

but if you into photography, better get a bigger one upfront, then no need to change later.....
and save money in the long run

If you want to risk having fungus growing on your lens, by all means you can skip the dry cabinet.
But the humidity in Singapore is quite high, especially raining season.
It's your take.

get the digi cabi 30litres one will do...
do a search on yahoo using the term "digicabi", then call the main distributor, think they got free delivery (dun know for all models or only the more expensive ones)

dry cab can be used for many things. i had one to protect my old tapes/ film/ slides from time forgotten. so yea, it'll come in handy.

as for 'equipment'. since u're not that much into the hobby as yet, i'd suggest u just stick to the kit lens and leave it at that. if u want, get a 50/1.8 (a relatively cheap lens for a couple hundred dollars). that allows u to play with larger aperture (thinner depth of field) and take some low light shots.

i would not recommend stuff like an extra battery or tripod at this time. not even a flash.

go out, shoot more with your d90 + kit lens (+/- 50/1.8). use a 4GB or 8GB card to the max then see if u need another. learn to do a bit of photoshop on the pictures u want to keep and then gauge if u need more accessories.

so, here's my recommendation for your 1st day shopping list
1. d90 + kit lens
2. bag. u need one.
3. +/- filter for kit lens (protect the front element)
4. +/- 50/1.8
5. +/- SD card (if not included as freebie)

I think the UV filter for the lens is a must get to protect the lens.. so, its a must together with the bag..

1st thing to get the dry cabinent.... unless you use your cam everyday.

Try with Tommy from Harvey Norman in Square2 (formerly Novena Square). Can get a D90 with 18-105 Kit lens for about 19xx with 5 Years warranty. Lesser, if you are not interested in the additional warranty provided by HN. Usual freebies include: 8G SD HC Kingston Card, Tripod (ok for regular use), Camera Bag, Cleaning Kit, and Lens cover. I checked around the prices before the purchase from the places that are recommended in the "recommended shops" thread in CS. In the end, I found the +4 years warranty more attractive and the prices the places quoted didn't differ much or was out of stock.

Yes, HN could be a bit expensive, but there's a lesser chance of a newbie like me being overcharged because their pricing is usually standard and the extra years of warranty will come in handy if wish to sell the unit after few years of use. Would highly recommend to take along a friend if possible who's well versed in photographic equipment.

Btw, Tommy's name might appear in more of my posts to come, but I'm neither related to HN or Tommy in anyway. Just a very satisfied customer because of Tommy's courtesy. Having seen customer service in a few countries and having experienced customer service in SG on very bad days :( , Tommy was extremely helpful. So was the other sales staff so far from HN whenever I had made any purchases from them.

Just returned from Cameron and KL and took a loads of good shots with my D90. Extremely satisfied with the Camera to say the least. And in my newbie, humble opinion - pics look extremely great! :D
