Nikon Users Kopi Session - 29 OCt 2010 The One U R waiting for "D-evil 7K"

a big thank you and congrats to CS and nikon for a successful "molestation" session of the D7000 . i think a lot of people there got poisoned silly with the cam and other lenses. :bsmilie:

Thank for the Kopi Session! I'm very happy for winning the prize of D3000.......

mug.... :bsmilie: Well, at least I didn't win any of those white and light weight long zooms...

Now, need to detox myself soon. But we guys have much fun polishing the new AWESOME D7000 body!... Thank you as well for bringing the 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII too! Together with the D7000 - it is a truly AWESOME combination!

which one you like to know? The D7000, lenses, food or the people?

D7000 - to put it simply in local terms.... no horse run. now I need to do is to wait for the first D7000 to appear in BnS. :bsmilie:

Food - simple yet really good especially the drumsticks.

People - great to talk to NPS people and listen to uncle CP talk and catch up with a few others.

Thank you so much for organising this kopi session.

Thanks for telling me everything :D Sounds nothing but fun. Hope I'll have a chance to join you all the next time!!

You missed the fine print, dude... Remind me to remind you never to sign a contract that has small prints at the bottom, or else you'll be in big trouble!!! :bsmilie:

To save you the trouble - it's a D3000 mug... not the camera!

24 hours after the D7k nikon users kopi session, I counted 4 wts D700. the D7k so powerful that people are giving up D700??? started by Lumiere??

I was aiming for D700 as well but then so happen that this D7000 is launched at this time and so I am thinking of getting this D7000 before Nikon launches the D700 replacement.

:D

To replace the D90 and D300s probably yes but D700 I don't think I would be able to do that. Definitely keeping all 3 of them. Nonetheless I have yet to really play with my new baby.

There are other considerations besides high ISO performance (and for that matter, the D7000 is still not at the D700 level).

Example, format. Switching from a FX to DX format, you lose your entire wideangle side. Another consideration, if you are a working photographer is inter-camera compatibility. The batteries of the D7000 are of a new type. I've once had a catastrophic failure in Hungary (camera+lens+flash dropped). That left me with 1 body left, and thank God I was still using all DX at that time so I could save some lenses (take note that NPS support for Singapore photographers only goes as far as AUS and HK, and not Europe/USA).

agree. still have many factors to consider. The bigger sensor is something a D7000 can't beat.

Just curious, how would divide your "play time" between the 3 after you have thoroughly gone over the D7k?

In about a week's time...the D7k belongs to Jean hahaha. She's enjoying the camera a lot too...Can help me record behind the scenes footage. Must face the fact that this new camera brings joy to many with its capabilities, functions and performance. But I highly doubt it can replace my the workhorse D700 and other FX cameras for the true quality.

We still need to deliver the promised goods to our client and sometimes even if the lower end camera does the job well, using a professional camera still matter. Because you don't want to let your clients feel that hey why should I pay you $XXXX amount if I can easily buy this camera and do it myself. Your personal image as a photographer, the respect you earn and most importantly the food they put on your table.

So guys don't simply think that wow the D7K can do all sorts of wonders. There are still limitations and if there is intention to go professional, it is best that you assess what level of performance you really need, the lenses progression, and the least impt is the money. Everything must PPP (plan plan plan) not BBB (buy buy buy)

From the many replies, I feel some people refuse to believe that a better priced camera can come with comparable performance if not better. They choose to be stubborn and believe figures (51 vs 39) and stat rather than seeing to believe theory. Anyway, if you think 300s is so superior and that a DX can never match FX in term of ISO, by all mean carry all these thoughts with you. 10 years down the road, you can still use your Pentium 4 and insist it is the fastest. Anyway, I am glad these people does exist. With them, they lessen the sales and I can get my D7000 camera sooner and with more bargain chip. LOLX.

Interesting to read that there are some ppl who strongly believe the latest technology can help them take better pictures and equate this to superiority over old technology.

It's like saying the latest SLK is better than a 1 year old Porsche Carrera GT

congrats on a successfull kopi session! if it's not so troublesome, I recommend if we can have name tags (CS handle) next time to easily identify each other :)

saw some familiar faces, and met new one. nice meeting you bro wmayeo ;)

We are comparing improvement in technology to technology, ie example pentium 1 to 2. Not as comparing a porsche to a KIA. Guess is time people move on from stone age. Also, having a good camera does not equal to produce good picture. Pls dun get mistaken. Alot of time the photographer hold a bigger weight. We are saying the best tool for the best guy. Cheers.

The D7000 is better than the D300s when it comes to ISO.
Focus wise, I didn't have the time to look at it, and this is something that can only be concluded after a few months of intimate use - focus is not as simple is it seems.

FX vs DX for ISO performance though? No way a DX is going to reach a FX when it comes to noise performance, when both cameras are of the same generation.
Even as it stands now, the D700 is still superior to the D7000 when there is a 1.5 camera generation gap.

I wonder if photos taken by both D7k, D300 and D700 when blow up to a A0 or A1 size photo. How will each fair?
