You are right.
Outside is selling the D90 with 18-105 at around $1680+.
The $1688 with the 18-55 is Nikon's RRP.
The IT show will follow RRP, except they throw in some freebies.

Save some cash to buy what we need is better than to take the freebies which some r not useful at all. Guess I will check it at the outside shop. Thanks.

hey can i check how much it cost to get a manfrotto 190x proB and the ball head?
as nikon now got promo with it. just wonder is it good deal or not?
and also how's manfrotto 190x proB is it good?

Try this thread Tripods, Tripod head prices

Somewhere near $300 for the 190XProB + 486RC2 head. I was using the 190XPROB + 488RC2 head until some time ago. 2.4kg weight and the longer than not folded length was the only drawback for me cos I needed to travel with this. Within SG, using this is great. Good height and sturdy tripod.

$1688 for D90 seems to be good with freebies. Other shops are also selling at around $1680 with just a 4GB card and Nikon bag. Can someone confirm if we can pay by credit card installment plan at IT Show for D90?

The other shops selling at $1680 is probably packaging with the 18-105VR kit set. The $1688 price tag is for the 18-55 VR kit set. I think the difference in the lens is almost $300. So, ain't a good deal if you ask me. BUT, if you need installment plan, well, guess the IT Show then.

Anyone knows what u can get for the D700. The NX software makes offer attractive?

Hi bomby, thanks for info. Is that offer with all those stuff worth it? I wouldn't need lenspen nor lowepro bag. How much is NX2 software alone?

Hi RT thanks for the info. Think the IT show promo package for D700 is not worth it then.

Better off getting it from shops.

Don't bother to get lens from them.

Ask them about the 24-70mm f/2.8

That guy punched the calculator and showed me $2890, cash terms.

Think I born yesterday:thumbsd:

Wonder why they bother to spend so much to set up a stall to sell at prices which are much higher than outside???

Haha, me too.

They just don't want to sell body only..

Sony indeed manufactured the D3x sensor for Nikon.
That's what alot of reports on the net claimed.

yes I read that ... but the fact that he stated that the A900 sensor is the exact same sensor as the D3X is perplexing.

Wow lot of Free Gifts on offer at the IT show.

I think for a beginner with no bag, tripod cleaning kit and etc, it is the best time to get your first DSLR.

D60 kit 988 (option to buy SB600@199)
D90 kit II 1688 (option to buy AF-S DX 55-200@ 349)

Which one should I get?

Is the speedlight SB600 wroth the money? Wha

I was quoted $3k (pay in cash) for the 70-200 lens at the Nikon booth.. the guy said price increased since 1st Mar. For once, my 70-200 appreciated in price.. :-)

Disagree. Those are not good prices, and the freebies are either average quality or useless (cleaning kit??? bleh). With things like bags and tripods, you want to be able to choose oned that suit your needs. Bags that fit comfortably and suit your carrying style and have enough space. Tripods that suit your height and camera weight requirements. These are all highly personal items. No point taking the risk to get them as "freebies" when you might end up replacing them with more suitable versions in the future, ESPECIALLY if one is a newbie and don't know what they need/want yet. As Thom said, you can spend $800 on a good tripod, or spend $500 and get the same thing.

From the promo poster, the tripod that comes w/ the D90 Kit 1 $1688 is the cheapie steinzeiser AL kind with the plastic pan head.

D90 kit should come with 18-105, which cost ~1650 earlier this year and now probably ~1700. Combining with 18-55 for the same price, although it is a decent lens, is a complete highway robbery.

Ignore the show promos. Go buy from a reputable store.
