Guys can i ask if the promo for D80 is worth it?
Honestly..... Get The D200 Package.... You Cant Go Wrong.....
I Think Lot Of Ppl Will Agree.... Get The D200..... This Is Comin From A Canon User....

got mine at TK for $1860 (Cash/ Nets price). Gave me a 2% discount, cos I paid with my CR Card, and still the same. Think you'll just need to chit chat with the sales people a bit. They are generally ok. You can go to the IT Show, and buy 2 x 2Gb Sandisk Extreme III at $130. Buy the Manfrotto tripod with head (same set-up as that offered at the IT Show) for $320. Throw in 1 x additional batt at $80, and 1 x cam bag (Lowepro Rezo 180 AW) at $70. Total damage $2460. Better than the IT SHow's D80 deal with so many useless rubbish you do not need...

So you're saying that the 70-300 AF G lens is not worth it? I think it's still a good deal for a newbie startup... at least the 70-300 covers the longer zoom range....
At least he/she can still use the dehumidifier and a plastic lock box and not buy digi-cabi yet...

Bro, he's just giving his opinion oni lah ... providing other options for newbie like me. It's like get what you need at cheaper or equivalent $$ and not 'force' to have accessories offered with buying at the show.

Definitely. Cos to many of us, it is a BIG ticket item, and do not rush into it. Take your time. I'll still suggest going to the shops to slowly review/ handle the cams you're considering. Talk to the Sales stuff. They will definitely be able to give you better service, although, I cannot vouch for a better price.
Maybe, just maybe - you can still go to the fair, handle the cam and see which fits you better...
I think some of the guys manning the DSLR booths are knowledgeable also. Cos they may be fellow CSer who took up this part-time when they were openly asking if there are interested parties to work the booths for these 4 days...

Anyone noticed that in the Nikon pamphlet, the D80 kit comes with an "AF 70-300mm G lens", but the picture shown is the AF-S 70-300mm VR lens"?
If you buy the D80, you should insist that they give you the lens which look like the one in the pamplet ;p

I think I'll get the D80 package from the IT show.
I don't need a expensive tripod to hold my cam, and since my existing one is damage, I might as well use this one. I'll try out the cheapo lens to see are my needs first. The additional battery, ugly looking bag, sd cards, card reader, lcd protector and lens cloth does come in handy as i my existing one are either lost or damaged. The dehumidifier, handstrap and 8R prints, I'll see what I can do with that.
Some more can pay by installment.

The CF card is 80x speed. Not really high speed.
i spoke a promoter from the booth and he say if we do not need some of the stuffs, he can adjust the price accordingly. maybe you can try asking them? he say if i do not need the additional lens given, he can deduct $200 from the package price just as an example lar.
btw can pay by installment ar? any credit card also can izzit? :lovegrin:
Wow, that sounds nice, I'll go ask them later after work. Wonder if still can pay by installment.
Only UOB cards, 12 months installment. + 1 2Gb card + (512M + card reader if first 500 to use the card to pay) + some lucky dips.
pls update if can still pay by installment, think that is the only way i wont empty my bank at one go :bsmilie:
