Nikon FX walk about lens

for lightweight walk-around lens, you can't go wrong with 50mm f/1.4. if you prefer zooms, the new 24-120VRII is also a good choice

Second that;), I just return from a trip to China, Xian. The 50mm f1.4D is the only lens that I bring along. It works beautifully especially in the dim display hall of the Terracotta Museum:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 or Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 or Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8.......900g compare to prime lens is heavy but compare to our sar21, this is nothing. lol. this is a pro lens, one of the best zoom lens optically.

Can not compare like that:nono:, we are given no choice with the SAR21, in the army how to choose:cry:? Personally for me, once I have experience the joy of travelling light with Prime Lens, I find it hard to travel with heavy lens again especially if the image quality is not sacrificed. :)
However I still have mine zoom for those less labourious trips.

ya agreed...enjoy the holiday as mine is not those kind people call "shooting trip"
when I wanted to get nikon24-70f2.8 my CO stopped me and say "u mean u bringing this monster on holiday???" :dunno: ..... bopien got $$ also cannot buy

me will likely hoot the new 24-120 F4 VRII as my next travelling len, current using tamron 28-300VC ....but image is good enough at least for me but not wide enough only

Yes:), only 1 50mm f1.4D for mine trip to Xian and I did not miss mine zoom at all. Xian is a great place to visit, may return during winter to capture the city covered in thick snow;).

Just got back from a trip to Tokyo... 3/4 of the time the 24 f1.4 was used, followed by the 17-35 f2.8 as my walk about lens. It is more than enough in my opinion to cover various lighting conditions. If you ask me to choose one, it will be the 24 f1.4.

Sold my 14-24 to numnumball n got me d 16-35. Feeling immediate relief to my neck. Now it reads like 16-35, 28-300, 50/1.4... Quite complete i guess. Now its time to take them for a shootout! BTW, nice to meet up w you Bro numnumball!

Yeah... Tks man... Nice knowing u too :)

And I m loving the insane view of this 14-24..

It compliment the 16-35 really well...

For me now will be 14-24, 50 1.2 and 135 DC for general walk abt

Same same during my recent china trip.. the 24mm f1.4 got 3/4 of time and the rest I hook up the 17-50 f2.8. if I need to go wider or nearer.

I compliment this. It's basically covered everything.

Now just waiting for it's arrival.

14-24 is a very sweet uwa lens. Good for you having it !

IMHO, between 50mm and 135mm there is quite focal length difference. Need a new lens to fill the gap. ;)

Nah.. got the AFD 85 1.4 as well, will switch and go sometimes.. but prefer the longer focal length of 135 :)

for me, i dont mind slightly heavier for a sharp lens...

i always carry my 24-70 F2.8 ard... of cos, i still have my 50mm F1.8 if i am travelling to a place where i dont want to stick out like a sore thumb.

For me, the 24-70 goes everywhere, coupled with a 20mm (if I need to go wider) and 35mm prime (in places which require more discretion) in my bag.
