Hi there,
may i ask why u want to purchase a film based SLR ?

it is very interesting as i notice more and more digital cam owner start thinking of getting a film-based SLR after some period of DC usage.....reason ???

as a film based camera user (F80 owner :)), in fact, i got the urge of switch to digi-cam...but not a P&S but still a SLR....

so i wonder if the sale of digi-cam would also boost the sale of entry-level film-based SLR....i think that's one reason Nikon, Canon and Pentax keep launching new entry level SLR throughout this 2 years....

As for Aquariu5, my advice is: stick to your coolpix, practice more own your photo style, composition...more impt thing is to find a job and save some bucks for a Digital SLR...

think pp get film based slr cos better quality?
and also due to shutter lag?
and not all digi cam can support iso1600...or good for night shots?

shutter lag.. slow AF.. noisy in high iso... DOF.. etc

but i still love DC! :D

Hi, so u still student ? this make me recall back when i bought my 1st manual SLR at aged of 14 years old and gave up the hobby at 16 years old due to finacial problem.....i re-pickup the hobby 2 years ago (i'm 29 now) and get myself a mid-level F80 to re-learnt the technique of photography....still saving money for a emmm future model of Nikon DXX...if u really serious about photography, perhaps u should read up more related magazine, books, make sure u really LOVE this hobby before u spent big bucks...'cos i tell u, its an end-less spending once u start purchase a body....there will be no such thing as:"well, i just need a SLR body and a 28-300 lens"

F80 is a fascinating camera, i coupled it with a battery pack (MB16), 50 F1.8 prime and 28-105 zoom....this whole set cost me almost S$1,700 spreading along a period of 2 years 'cos i still unable to earn big bucks yet :(

if u got budget (loan, beg or rob) and just want a mid-level camera, F80S is a good choice, it even imprint the exposure data on the negatives frame. If u only can afford one lens...try Tamron 28-200 super.

I agree with Spider photography is an expensive hobby. Your budget of $600 is really too limited for new set of SLR. New F80 is now about RM1450 (good price...used to be RM1850 when it first comes out).

Again, if you buy F80 new, I would suggest you just to get the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens (don't get the non-D version). Cheap, fast, pro optic quality. Later you can add up some other lenses, but the 50mm f/1.8 is still good to keep...for low light no flash photography.

If you want F60D, which is better built than F80...made in Japan...let me know...I have one to sell...like new in box... ;)

Go to Nikon.com to read more regarding photography...and more about Nikon cameras.

D is stand for the distance information in Nikon technology. It is necessary for 3D metering and 3D flash exposure. Something like the E-TTL in Canon. Nikon just comes out with the 50mm f1.8D version, used to be non-D. Price is about the same.

f/1.8 is the aperture size. You can really get much information in the Nikon.com website. It is my first site to learn when I touch photography.

My F60D? cheap...you can get the camera with a new 50mm f/1.8 lens at the price of F55 set. I can personally give you 1 month money back guarantee if there is any problem with the camera.;) Interested? If really keen, then email me privately at koh77@yahoo.com.

okok.....but must know price first....den si i haf enought currently...

Okok...my F60D with box, manual, unfill warranty card, strap, cap = S$320. Like new condition...and my money back guarantee for one month. Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D is about S$180+-, but not sure if it is available in Singapore already.

er....do u sell the lens as well....maybe deciding....will tell u soon...

Sorry, I don't have a lens to go with the camera, but I can help you to get the 50mm lens from shop in Johor...which sell at cheaper price I think.

No problem...take your time to consider...if you have more budget, then you might want to consider F80.

hmm...okok...er...juz si how much is the lens lor....er....wat's the diff between a AF 35mm SLR and a MF 35mm SLR?

AF = autofocus, with A, P, S mode.

MF = manual focus. Usually you need to set the shutter speed and aperture manually, thus a bit slow. Some MF camera also got A mode, then you just need to set your desired aperture, and the camera will set the shutter speed for you.

Both AF and MF cameras have built in metering (most of them).

Nikon AF = F55~F100...etc.

Nikon MF = FM2, FM3A, F3hp...

oic....hm....thanks alot...if u got time...u juz go check the price lor....in JB

u mean the price for AF 50mm f/1.8? It is about RM350+-. D version not sure yet...should still be less than RM400.

okok...really haf to think bout it....need to put all the cash in...den besides the F60D wif box wat else u selling 2gether?

just the F60D alone. I can throw in a original Nikon BF-1A cap if you like, original is just a translucent plastic cap.
