Nikon Df - the new King of High ISO performance ?

Basket every time I come here see Bro Tomcat shoot his cat...... the itch comes.... :embrass:............ but gonna wait for D750 and see how it perform..... hope the AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR or the AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f3.5-4.5G ED that Bro Ortega use for the D810 can perform just as well with D750...
;)

I am sure that It will perform better on a lower MP sensor. The 36 MP sensor is not that forgiving to bad skills, techniques and glass. Any flaws are easily captured.

That's good news.... at least to me..... kekekeke

If the price of Df2 became as expensive as D810, would you buy it?

well Actually if Nikon has decided to let DF users send in the body to upgrade AF module, we would happily pay small amt for it or just live with current setup instead of buying DF2 which is unnecessary at this stage.

I also want haha
But in the first place, is it possible to do surgery to upgrade the AF sensor system from Multi-CAM4800 (39 AF) to Multi-CAM3500FX (51 AF) ?

Anybody interested in a 24K gold Df and 14-24mm f/2.8 lens ? ;)

"Priced at $30,000 USD and packaged in a premium custom-made case, a portion of the profits will be donated to charities around the world as part of Brikk’s “profit for philanthropy” scheme"

If you donated USD 30,000 for charity then you would get this 24K gold Df set.
;)

Donated. ;)

Make sure you read the part that says "a portion of the profits". 1% of the profit is still a portion of the profits.

Any Df owner tried/dared changing his/her focusing screen?

Really expensive:
http://www.focusingscreen.com/index.php?cPath=22_139

And will definitely void warranty:
http://www.focusingscreen.com/work/d800en.htm

I don't own a DF, but I did purchase a K3 focusing screen from this company for my S5 pro.

It does NOT void your warranty as long as you don't screw up. The focusing screen is very easy to swap out especially if you have experience from the film camera days (Which were user swappable screens)

Cost wise, its bit pricey, but they are very professional. Kit comes with all the tools and even some finger covers, etc. I like focusingscreen coz they use original nikon K3 focusing screens cut down to fit my s5 pro.

Good to know, thanks for the feedback.

I just recalled having the focusing screen replaced on my previous D3s three years ago, and it was done at Cathay Photo by an experienced salesman. Indeed it did not void my warranty. Only paid around 40+ bucks for it i think, and it was an original Nikon one, This one costs more than twice that and it's third party, but may be worth it.

I used to own the Nikon F with the photomic prism, where the focusing screen was really easy to replace as it can be accessed from the top, but other film cams like my F70 and N90s have to be accessed from the front just like current dslrs, somewhat risky to do for me with my poor eyesight and unsteady hands. So if i buy one i will likely ask someone else to do it for me.

Some screens (like the k3, which there isnt for df coz original k3 smaller) are original nikon. When you get it, its with original box even.

Yah. Can be tricky and easy to scratch if u not careful.

Really quiet here, just when joined the camp. Has everyone moved on to the nice D750?

Any of ur encounter the back-to-side rubber grip coming off for ur Df?

Happens to mine :-( ...slightly coming off at the side. Anyone went back to nikon service center for a fix before, mind share if its worth in term of workmanship?

My front rubber grip cover is a little wrinkled, and looks like it might get worse. Have contacted NSC by email and was informed that it's covered by warranty. Gonna bring it down next week for replacement.

For out of warranty sets, the cost of replacing the rubber grip is $31.05 nett.
