Nikon Df - the new King of High ISO performance ?

If you need 36MP, option for battery grip, video capability go for D800.
If you love retro dials, don't take video, no need for battery grip, go for Df.

Lets just say I'll keep my options open.

That's the price I paid to one of my regular dealers for the last kit set he had from the first batch. He does not want to be named as Nikon Singapore has told all authorised dealers not to give big discounts for the Df despite the huge mark-up between the dealers' price and the RRP. He doesn't want unhappy shoppers to complain to Nikon about him if he did not want to sell it to them at these prices which he said he only offers to his regular customers at this time.

That said, every time he sells me something at a 'special' price, I would find that not long after, other popular dealers would be offering at similar if not slightly better prices for the same items as well. So the price is not that special after all it would seem. ;)

So I would suggest that for those who are keen on the Df to approach your regular dealers with whom you have a longstanding relationship and ask for it at those prices. I am told that stocks should be in this week and it would certainly be a good time to bargain for a special price while there's plenty of stock available. Luckily this time round the Df is not as popular as the D800/800E when they were first launched and the dealers might be more inclined to offer bigger discounts sooner than later. ;)

hmmmm basket.... those regular shop I go to never give me such price...... some of them more than 3 decade of business with them...... or maybe I everything buy cheap cheap things from them..... kekekekeke..... :embrass:

Wonder how the G lens looks on a df.... anyone got sample pics?.. will it look weird?

Nikon lens w/o aperture ring.

In that case, here's a commonly available pic of the Df with the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G (Special Edition) kit lens, a cosmetically reworked version of the AF-S Nikkor 50mm F1.8G, with some 'classic' design accents to match the look of the Df. Look weird ?

umm.. a sign that it's time to change dealer ? ;)

It's just that the Df came after the D800 that you think this way. If the D800 came after, you'd think why pay the same price for a D700 with inferior sensor to Df.

It also a different perspective on how one define an inferior sensor. If you are into low light shooting, you will think that the D800 sensor is inferior. If you are into low ISO wide dynamic range, you will think that the Df sensor is inferior. LOL.

I'm not even sure dealers in SG really honor loyal customers, often you get better deals from shops where they don't expect you to buy anything.

+1 from me

the black one sure looking so pretty ... aah well :P

Will be even prettier if mounting with Nikon legacy lenses. :)
Agreed. The Special Edition 50mm f/1.8 kit lens still look very modern in real life and light too because of the plastic body. Nikon should have made it to look like a legacy lens and with a metallic body as well to properly match the Df.

The black one actually looks and feels more solid compared to the chrome one. Instead of a truly chrome sheen like that in the FM2 camera, it has a light yellowish tint to it which made it looked cheap and like it was spray-painted. I had originally wanted a chrome set but got the black one in the end. Of course, the fact that that was the only set left made it easy for me to decide in favour of the black too. :) So no regrets. Black is better for stealth action anyway.

how does the Df looks when its mounted with zoom lenses like the 28-300mm, 24-70mm etc? most online photo only shows the Df with its kit 50mm lens ... wanna to know whether will it look weird. thanks
