I'm very happy with it. It's great for those night outs with friends in dimly lit outlets[birthdays and gatherings]

I did a simple test while waiting at a CD/DVD shop Friday night.

hi.. i just bought my D90, being curious, would like to ask whether how many warranty cards are there (one worldwide & one local)?
lastly, is the model name D90 HK KIT SET (HK?)? :dunno: thanks in advance!

If it is printed chop nikon singapore in the warrenty, then it would be local set =)

HK doesn't denote HongKong. See the warrenty card, there should be a printed Nikon Singapore on it. There are 2 slips, one each for the body and lens. ;)

thanks so much for clearing my doubts. ;)

D90 gives you the D300 sensor and most of its functionality (liveview, better lcd, better low-light performance)

Got link and can elaborate? Looking at the D90 as backup.
By the way Plemix, great review!!! ;)

does the D90 meter with old manuel lenses?? :what:

I'm wondering about this too. Apparently D90 doesn't meter manual lenses right? D300 does. But Nikon's website says this:

"1) DX AF NIKKOR: All functions possible
2) D-/G-type AF NIKKOR (excluding IX NIKKORlenses): All functions possible (excluding PC Micro- NIKKOR)
3) AF NIKKOR other than D-/G-type (excluding lenses for F3AF): All functions except 3D-Color Matrix Metering II possible
4) AI-P NIKKOR: All functions except Autofocus, 3D-Color Matrix Metering II possible
5) Non-CPU AI NIKKOR: Autofocus not supported. Can be used in exposure modes A and M but exposure meter does not function. Electronic range finder can be used if maximum aperture is 5.6 or faster; Color Matrix Metering and aperture value display supported if user provides"

So-o-o.. to those with a D90 and older manual lenses, what does this mean? If I use M, do I need to take a test shot to see what the exposure is like, then adjust, test again, adjust again until I get the exposure right?

Still the same as D80. There is no metering for the lenses without CPU. Shoot by histogram and adjust

But D90 doesn't have live histogram right? *sigh* It could be this feature (problem) that will push me toward the D300 instead of the D90, although I very much favour the D90's form factor more... Oh wells... you can't have everything when you don't have something (money, in this case).

Thanks! But after reading it found something which doesn't really convince me it shares the same sensor as the D300. IMO it does not. But the word is, "MAY".

According to various sources it's a "derived" sensor from the one used in the D300... Maybe they tweaked the A/D such that it's cheaper to manufacture at the expense of 12-bit output... yet somehow retaining the strong ISO performance.

No live histogram but should take more than 2 frames to get correct exposure
