Just tried out on my D750..
When shooting RAW only, access the camera through WMU android app, it transfers a low-res JPG (< 1MB) when I choose "recommended size" option. It appears that a JPG file is automatically generated for the transfer. So maybe you can stick to RAW only and avoid your JPG file management problems.
BTW also read that for D750, to use UHS-I card only as it cannot take advantage of UHS-II and it may be even slower than UHS-I. Hence I didn't spend more money beyond the Sandisk 95MB/s cards.
