I would jump to D700 bandwagon IF want to upgrade (soon). The price is nice across the borders.

i also wonder why a working colleague of mine didnt dump his D3X for the D7000 since its dynamic range its rated higher... hmmm.. with all the added latest features....

D700 in Malaysia with Nikon Malaysia warranty is selling for 5990RM. Around 2550SGD. but not everyone wants to deal with Malaysia warranty.

D700 in SG is around 3050.

My friend get it in Malaysia too.. after the conversion, it is close to S$2700 for D700 (Body Only)

don't get me wrong 80-200 is a good lens... its definitely sharper than the sigma but my purpose for a 70-200 f2.8 is for sports use. the af motor on the 80-200 just couldn't do it for me. i had a pretty good offer for the 80-200 but i preferred the sigma cause of the HSM focusing. as for the 70-200vr2 haha absolutely the best the and price tag too haha.

If you think about it, a sigma 70-200/2.8 is not that far off in pricing to a 70-200vr1. But everyone have their own preferences.

I went up to the shop, a total stranger, ask for quote and the price offered is 5990RM. We bought 2 units on the spot.

I did try my best to fake the Malaysian Chinese accent though.

Anyway to TS..... just get the D7000 and save $$$ to buy lenses la...... since you need to ask the question, no need spend so much on the body..... :lovegrin:
