bro constant 2.8 ma...fast lens...tt why.... can shoot in low light....

bro...just a qns that puzzel me for quite a while ...17-55..compare to kit 18-55.....just 1mm diff in the lower end...but the price is more than 10times different...whats the catch to get that extra 1mm wider? but pay 10times more? ....

Well i bet the extra money goes to the build of the 17-55mm lens. In 17-55mm, there's alot more optics as compared to the normal kit lens (17-55mm has fourteen elements in ten groups, 3 aspherical lens elements n 3 ED glasses, while 18-55mm has 7 elements in 5 groups, one of which is an aspheric and one of ED glass.) [taken from kenrockwell.com]. And not forgetting the 17-55mm has a more solid body as compared to the kit lens, plus features like IF and the positioning of the zoom and focus rings. and thus the high price tag of the 17-55mm lens :sweat:

It's not just the 1mm difference. It's more the constant f2.8 and built quality.
I had one and sold it cuz I found it very front heavy with D5000.

I wanted a midrange zoom VR lens with f2.8.
I think the only option right now is the Tamron 17-50mm VC.
Anybody has tried this combo?

u shd not adjust your EV to highest......shd be lower - the cam LCD look bright...but the actual pic is darker...( I make this mistake before also)
secondary u can try auto mode? ....if its still over expose...than I think either your house computer LCD is too bright...or your cam up the lorry liao......

so you mean i adjust the lcd brightness to lower? how much?

erm usually when u guys upload pics to the computer...
do you use the software to transfer pics to the com? which comes from the cd they gave it to you?
or do u just drag and drop the pics on the com?
coz im having problems with drag and drop from the computer...seems that some pics arent fully uploaded to the com...
any ideas?

just use the software given to download pic to the PC....
u just need to explore abit on how to use it...
the software can even rename the filename for easy achive...and manage of your different folder...

right now, the onli budget zoom lens to compliment your kit lens is 55-200mm lens.

remember to get the AF-S version of it unless u dun mind MF with older versions which may cost cheaper lol

wat are you looking for? there are lots of zoom type around....
e.g.
18-200
18-250
18-270
70-200
70-300
150-500
50-150....the lists can go on and on ...
and there are not only nikkor lens...there are also sigma...tamron.......
tell us what u really looking for...not just "I need a zoom lens"...but what type of pic u looking to take...
