Nikon D5000 come on in

I just came back from a 8days trip, took almost 2k photo,used <14gb , I had 20gb with me (3x4gb + 1x8gb, cost me less than 100bucks) in fact 4gb is the most value for money now, u can get a 4gb scandisk ultra II at $14+ @SLS. memory card these day are dirt cheap, just get more lah. its not like last time where 4gb is selling at hundreds of dollars
its best not to bring a HDD for travelling, if u are unlucky, when you are leaving the airport that time, the customs officer may check your HDD, and some how drop it.....I can only say....good luck, all the pic that you took during the holiday can say bye bye to u.

hello all my fellow D5000 users... been using mine for few months now... loving it like never before... especially after i got the battery grip... guys i know tehre a lot of people who saying 3rd party grip is not good and blah blah... but i gotta say its super... u will love your camera even more when u get the grip its just so much cooler and more importantly it gives you super grip of the camera... its much easier to handle u know... anyway just thought i share.. and if anyone planning any outing count me in...

maybe u can show what type of pic u wanna take?...than we can comments how to reach there.....from your shots...its really hard to say what u DUN LIKE abt the pic.
it could be your composition ...your DOF control...your subject..the story you wanna tell?...it can be any thing.
i kinda lyk portrait shots...
the likes of deriving and reflecting back to people the shots ive taken..
another thing... wats d perfect lens for such subject?

he shares EXACTLY my thoughts, you'll only go for the d90 if the 3 major factors (built in motor, commander, 3inch 900k dots screen) outweigh the tilting lcd, the lighter smaller build of the d5k..the d5k actually performs a bit better than the d90 at high ISO..His final comments:
"Despite some of my criticisms, I actually think I like my D5000 a bit more than my D90. The critical decision point is whether you find the positionable LCD of use, I think, versus the handful of D90 features that the D5000 doesn't have. For me, only the autofocusing with non AF-S lenses, the 930k dot LCD, and commander mode of the internal flash on the D90 are things that might tip me towards the D90 over the D5000. The D5000, on the other hand, has slightly better JPEGs at high ISO values and that positionable LCD going for it."
And if you ask me, I can easily counter the 3 factors but no amount of money you spend can make the d90 lighter or make its lcd tilt

Thanks for the link, interesting & quite an in-depth review. I think I have taken too much time on which DSLR to purchase haha. Its my 1st DSLR after all.
I have my thought here.
Since I dont own any Nikkor lenses at all, I think its fine that D5000 do not support lenses that don't have built-in focusing motors.
Initially I wanted D5000 with the standard kit lens ((AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR) but I found out AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR provides a far more better coverage.
The price for D5000 with AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, I think somehow could be closer to the D90 package.
I have downloaded D5000 & D90 manuals but I have not got the time to read them in detail. So I dont know what important feature that D90 has but its not available in D5000. One thing, multiple exposure mode is available in D90 but not on D5000. I used to do film SLR, so I think its interesting to use this mode.
I also prefer most of the important settings be available as buttons & not on the LCD screen.
I think the positionable LCD display on D5000 is fine. I only hope that it is robust with all these twist & turn operation.
BTW, how useful is the commander feature on the D90?
