Hee hee... just got the 35mm. Very nice. Can portrait (bokeh not as nice as 50mm i tink but still can) and can do street shots.

i got my d5000 + kit for 1150, 55-200 2nd hand for 250, 8gb for around 40 from pc show, bag i sell for 30, tripod sell for 30. my damages are 1380. if got the kit lens, its a good deal, if don have, still a ok package. bargain for more freebies, like extra battery and one more 8gb.

That is correct and in the end. I got it at AP at $1199 with freebies = nikon SL 168 tripod, 8G SD card and a camera bag.

wow...yesterday I show Nikon roadshow at funan by challanger...$1199 , kit+ 4gb sd card+ camera bag(this 2 item the guy say is nikon give one..so cannot take away anymore) ...so end up..still din buy...haha

what is the speed of the SD card they give?....I dun wanna get a slow card....thats why rather they dun wanna the "free" card....would prefer to go for faster card like scandisk extreme III.....can read write at 30mb/s....can write faster when taking RAW.....or multi shot....

i got it at 1185 as the package is 1150 with std kit lens 18-55 vr... plus 15 for cleaning kit and 20 for uv filter...... so far have been enjoying this new toy... as i am still new to dslr therefore did not opt for a lens upgrade... but if given a choice and without budget constraint, i will go for a 18-200 vr which can really give a good reach if u need ...... a so called " multi purpose" lens.... hahaha......

hi I just bought my kit on 23rd august from John 3:16 at $1180. only came with 8 gb card and a bag.

still learning =)

btw jus tried to upload pics to my laptop on low batt via USB cable (when shutter can't be released that time).... my laptop couldn't detect.

Is that supposed to be the case?

One thing I like is the subject tracking in live view.

Kind of curious what focusing modes do you guys used in Live view? One preliminary usage the subject racking works really well and allows easy recomposition and focus.

I dont really use Live view, except to just look at the composition before switching LV off and shoot.

BTW D5000 DEFECT-AFFECTED GUYS, how did your cam kena exactly? Mine just did...... screen went blitz for a split second and its gone...... i was shooting Pesta Sukan Canoe Polo tourny at NTU sia :cry::cry:
