hey peeps do you think is it worth it to get the Nikon AF-S 18-200mm VR lens or Sigma 18-200mm VR lens? well nikon is expensive but reliable and sigma is cheap and has good reputation with their lens... so guys i need opinions!

I was on this forum for few hours today and thanks to all you guys learned lots of things today.


Can u tell me where is the best place to buy?
Where u guys know the best price is?
I heard there are few different kits if yes, which is better? more value?

i'm planning juts to buy standard kit and then in near future buy other lenses.

i bot mine at harvey normans, want to save issues of getting 'brand'(used) new set that some shop sell. so to have a piece of mind, i paid higher. got a basic kit 18-55mm. if ur pocket is deep enough, my advice is to go for a higher lens kit. cun remember if its 18-105mm? anyway, i tink it only comes in 2 sets, not to sure myself cos im aso new to this. hope it helps. lenses, u can buy it after u have familiarize wif it n aso depends on wat kind of objects you r shooting. for me, im extreme, i go for macro and zoom lens, have not learn to use any lenses in between.

the last time i bot mine comes with these (im nt sure if they still have such promos):
1x bag
1x lens cleaner kit
2x kingston sd card
1x UV filter
1x 3rd party batt
1x tripod

All in $1299nett. i extended my warranty by paying another additional $112 for 2 more years. in total i have 3yrs warranty. by the end of the warranty, who knows i mite change body. so i decided not to get the 5yrs warranty. anyway, everyone here have their experience buying from different shops. choices is still urs, hope it helps.

I find that 5 years is a bit too long for a camera body, that is if you're using it and upgrading and stuff. Still, the 5 years would definitly help when you plan to resell your camera body with the warranty, thats one good thing about buying bodies at HN.

And yup, 55-200 is a great lens, just that the AF sometimes pisses me off. Planing to get the 70-300 to replace it cause of the faster AF and 100mm extra. Consider the 35mm f1.8 too!

you can get it at 350 from AP. but almost always out of stock. max i found was 390, with normal price being 380 from the rest.

BTW, if you have lobang, go for the 50mm 1.4 and the 70-300mm vr directly. If you're on a budget, go for the 35mm 1.8 and the 55-200mm vr. Cheers!
