Quick questions on the D5K! If mine is working fine with the POWER ISSUE, do i need to send it in to NSC?

Please advise! By the way, keep me posted if there's any outings for shoots! I am new and would like to learn from the experienced folks here...

Hmm... if you feel uncomfortable then go ahead but I can't be bothered and would only send it in prior to any impt event that would require the camera (overseas etc).

You can go to the outings sub forums to join peeps if you want. They usually very friendly and will welcome you. I do join some outings now and then but I prefer to shoot alone or with just with my gf and maybe another 1 ~ 2 pals. Too big group will talk a lot, shoot little and sometimes everyone wanna take the same picture of same place, same insect etc. The jostling and queuing up is just not for me. You do get an opportunity to learn more though especially if you tag along with the experience peeps and observe, ask questions at appropriate time etc.

I prefer to experiment on my own though while my gf surfs a lot on settings people use for certain scene and modify it a bit to suit her taste. That's another way to learn so you may want to try that route too.

Hi all!

Finally got my D5000 from CP yesterday! Nikon authorised dealers just received a new batch on Wed unaffected by the service advisory

Had already decided on the D5000 over the D90 before I walked into the store, but almost changed my mind at the last min cos the D90's viewfinder and screen were noticeably larger. But glad I got the D5000 in the end! Its got pretty much the same image quality and fps as the D90 in a smaller lighter body. Coming from a point and shoot, I think I'll also prefer changing the settings using the rear screen on the D5000 rather than the hardbuttons/top info panel on the D90. Best of all its alot cheaper at $1165.

Couple of qns:

1) Which SD card did you guys get bundled with your kit? Was is the 8GB Kingston one? Will I be able to achieve 4fps with that card or do I need a faster card?
2) Which is the best UV filter to get?
3) How impt is a drybox or dry cabinet? Which ones are good?
