It just says that the exposure will be metered again when shutter is pressed, no? Doesn't elaborate on the part about the light entering the viewfinder and interfering with exposure leh.

it just to avoid bright spots in the image after u capture, chill bro its no biggie, again it will only matter if u using camera with LV to shoot, so no worries..

I see. Thanks for the enlightenment! I'm a noob here. :P

hahaha, thats like err focusing in live view is slow, some times takes ages, even worse in low light, for suited lV focusing refer to page 42 hahaha

kaoz...u did ur ctrl F again....hahaha:thumbsup::thumbsup:

actually to be frank...the LV is kind of useless, its even worst than my old prosumer LV focus...

its better to use MF than AF in LV....like this will be faster.....

share this pic with u all.....last week from SBG....
I love his groomy looks.....hahaha

Hi guys,

Just got my D5k this weekend and i have just started reading through the manual to better understand how to use this camera, since this is my first DSLR, i'm kinda nervous about it. :)

There are some questions that i need to ask you guys. I did some test shoots in Auto Mode at home at night, and somehow i feel that the inbuild flash isn't really strong, and the pictures that i took are kinda darker compared to my sister's Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50. Is this normal or is there some other reason for this darker tone?
I have attach below some of the test photo that i took. Maybe you guys can compare and see if the colour and contrast of the Nikon D5000 shoot is normal or not?

Also what mounted flash should i get for D5k? Cause i've been reading a few post saying SB-600 is better due to the size. But other than the size, what is the difference between a SB-600 to lets say SB-800? The brightness of the flash? Also for dry cabinets, how many type are there? Came upon a post in the newbie section, and kinda remember some of them saying the electric dry cabinet are better. So would it be better for me to get one of those compare to a dry box?

Hope you all can enlighten me on what i have mention above and pls pardon me for any noob or silly question that i might have ask.

If the DSC-H50 was on Auto as well, perhaps it auto-enhanced the colour; different cameras would meter the exposure, white balance differently. I'm sure you'll be able to learn more in due course and adjust the settings to achieve the images that you want.

Don't trust me though, I'm a noob. :bsmilie:

If you are living with your sister, investing in a dry cabinet might be a good option, can put both the cameras in. (: The main advantage is that the Relative Humidity (RH) in the dry cabinet is controlled better than the dry box. Some say that too low a RH can cause the plastics / rubber to be brittle, as well as cause the lubricants in the camera to dry up, and some fungus actually grows at very low RH. Since you can't really control the RH in the dry box, a dry cabinet would be "better" in this sense.

agreed...abt the temp of the pic...AWB..maybe u can try to set ur exposure more..and try to shoot again...:)

Hi Timolol, tks for the info, i have went and brought myself a electronic dry cabinet already :)

Hi kel82, the best result i got is by increasing the exposure by +1, but i still have to use photoshop's auto color adjustment to get the color of the picture to be similar to my room. Do you have problem with the color of your pictures being different from what you took? I haven't tried any day shoots yet, so maybe i'll try out the camera outdoors during my offdays to see if there is any difference or not :)

Think i'll try to finish reading the manual asap and go for the D5000 Workshop next month. And hopefully be able to join you guys for any future D5000 activities and learn from you all :)

Hi... am actually having some questions on external flash for nikon D5000. Is it ok with D5000 using SB600? or it would be good to use SB800? How do we use the commander and slave mode for SB800 / SB600 for D5000? Have do up some research but still I cant get a conclusion.

hope this helps...: )

hi looks like the one taken by the cybershot is saturated, you can control saturation in the picture control setting, try setting it to vivid or you can customize your own, as for the flash, you can control the flash compensation if you want it darker or brighter, shortcut is flash button + exposure control button + dial..

hey guys just wanna check out if the warranty do u die die have to put the actual purchase date for online registration?? n really need the receipt to service ur cam?

yes it is a must...nsc will def check for receipt..
