That's the write-protect switch, and it has nothing to do with the "secure" feature as the name "Secure Digital" suggests.
The "secure" feature refers to the protection of copyrighted data copied to the SD card.

SD card so far use on p&s cameras only. Naturally slow. Besides SD card got high speed ones also. Believe the D50 is the first DSLR to use this card.

nah...my 1D MKII got both CF and SD card slot

i always keep a small SD card inside, once the CF card finish, can immediately switch to SD, without wasting time changing card at the cruical moment

The first dSLR to use a SD card solely must be the Pentax*ist DS that came out in Sept 2004. Before tat, the slightly bigger size *ist D tat came out in Dec 2003 still uses CF card.

MS Color selling it at $1,500 (kit). played with it... very light leh. no shiok. somemore the kit lens damn koyak. the mount is made of plastic.

I played with it too... light but feels a bit more solid than 350D... and I agree with mohgui that its better to spend more on a D70s... the kit lens is of better quality and greater reach...

Shiok = feel great

Koyak = flimsy
