Just like some old hardcore did not believe that some Jap make cars are coming on par with the European cars now.

The seat cushions still feels different leh :sweatsm:

So is the D50 supposed to be a scaled down version of the D70? Does it use the same CCD and metering as the D70? :dunno:

Nope. D50 uses 3DMM II instead of the older 3D MM. CCD wise, I haven't been reading but probably the same sony CCD & LSI processor like D70.

Someone on DPreview mentioned that the D50 will be out on 29 June 05.

No official release date from Nikon Singapore.

The D50's two biggest differences to me are that it uses 3D matrix metering 2 and it has AF-A. These 2 features make the D50 not just a smaller D70, it actually stands out as a "different needs" camera on the entry level.

On a queer level, the D50 produces a couple more pixels(<10 on each dimension) on their image than the D70. That's what I read in the brochure.

3DMM II is the same as on the D2X? But what is AF-A?

I do believe it should be the same as the D70/D70s/D100. It is supposed to be the same sensor. No biggie, I will just rib it to the next Nikon representative I meet and show him the brochure they sent me.

The new system adopts AF-A mode for smooth automated operation that switches between AF-S (single-servo autofocus) and AF-C (continuous-servo autofocus) depending on the movement of the subject in the framed shot.

I think you mean to say:

"This (post) may cause a lot of noise (disagreement) ....", right?
