Sub $1000 dslr with kit lens would really drive a lot of P&S shooters to dslr loh...
We might start to see more dslr users than P&S... :bsmilie:
Change of our times? :bsmilie:
with kit... 18-55mm
> $1000... Just body or with kit lens?
Your sign is wrong. It should be < $1,000 instead, with kit.
I believe the difference between the two lenses is only cosmetic. There's no difference in the specifications and even the MTF charts are exactly the same.Hmm..there's a new kit lens too, the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens.. It seems to be different from the D50 kit lens..
Hmmmm you should know that Nikon is lagging quite a fair bit behind Canon in the dSLR market internationally ya? It's only in Singapore the market share is comparable. This is a product launched at the international market, not only Singapore market.I dun think it will be less than $1k.. Coz Nikon already has such a big following. They do not need to price their cams low just to attract buyers.. Most prob will be around $1.1k?![]()
Haha.... :bsmilie: Never put one coolpix inside??? I think SB-800 will cause D40 to be unbalanced lah...![]()

Did you read properly??
New one is slightly longer and lighter
70.5×74 mm
205gm
And also the lens construction is slightly different. Look at it carefully. The old one has the group nearer to the rear element. The new version has it in the middle of the lens.

When the D200 came out. I started to have some hope for Nikon. But it seems that unable to go up, they try to reach down with the D40. The D80 is a good cam. A good equipment at a good price. But no technical revolution.
If Nikon does not come up with something substential, they will start the sloap that goes definitively down.
The D40 almost reminds me the Nikon pronea serie. Were that a winning products?
Ouch!!![]()
Can only autofocus with AF-S and AF-I lenses... no cheap 50mm f/1.8 for this baby...
