Nikon D3100 and the four new lenses

Tomorrow is the 17th of august you know?

sleep, wake up, check news.

from these rumours, it should be a good morning for many a nikon user.

Tomorrow is the 17th of august you know?

August 17 is the 229th day of the year (230th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 136 days remaining until the end of the year.

Do note that the dates are not In local time

I hope "travelling len" do come true :

Nikkor 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 ED VR – now this one is weird because it’s a… FX lens… yep, full frame! Previous rumors indicated a 28-300mm zoom, to compete directly with Canon, but it seems that Nikon decided to do this one differently (Nikon already has a 18-200mm lens for DX). Correct me if I am wrong, but I think this will be the first full frame 18-200mm lens in the world.

18-200 f/3.5-5.6 ED VR for FX, is almost impossible to be built.

It's difficult to create Super Zoom which start from 18mm for FX. If exist, the lens might suffer from heavy vigneting or very soft at corner of the photo.

Starts from 28mm is more reasonable.

Note: if I were you and only had FX body, I would bring 28-300 + 16-35 f/4 VR for travelling ;)

Hi all,

Seems like most are quite curious about the replacement of D90. Spot in rumours, it might D95.

Hope it will be out soon.

Thanks,
Ernest

me using 28-300vc for travelling on my d700 :)

If the ISO prediction is true, I am taking it conservatively that it is referring to H1 at 12800 with the top true ISO at 6400 at best. It could also be H2 at 12800, H1 at 6400, and top true ISO at 3200 (the same as D300/D300s now but with a push to H2).

Nikon will be shooting themselves in the foot if its true ISO12800 at top end of usable ISO range without going into H1, which is the realm of the very expensive D3s and which will piss off a lot of FX owners. But at the same time, most entry level DSLR buyers/consumers have no idea of the meaning of ISO and is would be less appreciative of such features.

We will know in a few hours time... ;)

Hope 24-120 f/4 is good or at least decent. the current 24-120 really cannot make it.

24-120 would be great option towards current 24-70, with FX high ISO performance n VR, F4 seems not a problem in this zoom range, hopefully lighter weight n size

anybody can share why Canon made that 28-300 so heavy n expensive, seems from pic Nikon's new 28-300 nearly same size as Tamron's one, cant wait to test it...

i hope the 24-120 is gonna be on par with canon's 24-105...

Don't see people dumping the 85 AF-D leh ... If the transition from the 50 mm AF-D to AF-S version is any guide, I think the second hand value of the 85 AF-D will hold up very well (assuming the new version offers only marginal improvement in IQ).

We shall see.

It seems that the announcement is on the 19th instead, two more days to wait

Hope the announcement really comes on the 19th. Otherwise... we would have been talking so much for nth :bheart:

ISO prediction is accurate, H2 to 12800. Now to see how does 14MP holds up in terms of noise.
