Nikon D3100 and the four new lenses

agreed!!! just for nano + VR?

Same question with, 70-200 VRII, what's for ? Just for nano + better VR ?

But people still sold their current 70-200 VRI and buy the new 70-200 VRII

Latest news from Nikonrumors.

They mention a mysterious button in the Nikon D3100.
A new on/off button ?

Unlikely since the old power switch is still there. There are guesses that it is a new live view switch, or a AF mode switch, or a shutter release mode mode (single/continuous/timer) switch, video start or mode dial lock. Really doubt it's a power button switch

THAT BUTTON make you the coffee bros !!!

Anyway.... I have my $2K floating about - to get ONE of the 85 f1.4..... I'll compare BOTH on release and ONE will be mine !!

Where does the coffee come out from? Hopefully not the lens mount? I would like it if it could dispense the coffee while I still have my lens on, so I don't have to fumble around with taking off lenses and such.

anybody keen to get the new 85 and dump their old 85 1.4 can kindly PM me :bsmilie::bsmilie:

AF should be faster
but VR still lose to VC i think
Faster in terms of aperture size. The tamron's max aperture is f6.3 at the tele end, as compared to nikkor's f5.6.

As for VR or VC gives more stabilisation, no point guessing, will only find out when the lens is here to test :)

Yes I second this. From the picture, the standard on-off switch is still there at the shutter button. So the extra button should be designed for something else.

from what i see, the new switch is not on the shutter release button but on the mode dial

yay! 55-300mm! hope its cheaper than the 70-300mm!

it is certainly not a D90 replacement rite ? There is no scroll wheel in the front..

Don't see people dumping the 85 AF-D leh ... If the transition from the 50 mm AF-D to AF-S version is any guide, I think the second hand value of the 85 AF-D will hold up very well (assuming the new version offers only marginal improvement in IQ).

I seriously think that is a D90 replacement..with the wrong picture and model no. but (mostly) correct specs.

Wrong ! According to our friend NikonRumors, D3100 is replacement of D3000, not same with D90 replacement.

http://nikonrumors.com/2010/08/15/weekly-nikon-related-newslinks-71.aspx

Nikon D3100 have a 100 – 12800 ISO range
D90 replacement ISO range could be even higher, up to 25600 ISO.

So both of D3100 and D90 replacement have improved ISO range, surpassed D700, a full frame camera.

It will be because 55-300 is a DX lens but 70-300 is a FX lens.

Btw, D3s just won the EISA best professional camera award and 300 f/2.8 VRII best professional lens. Oh wait this is not a Nikon Rumours thread...

Technically the D3000 is D40x/D60 with slightly different controls, so...
