Hey guys, I'm a Nikon fan and been saving up to get myself a D3000 (initially wanted a D60 but apparently its out of production) ^^

Apparently, my friend is also saving up to buy it the same time as me but she's a Sony fan so I listed out the specs between an A330 and the D3000 I wanted. And so far I think Sony's A330 has better functions which is making me think twice about getting a D3000

Apart from the similarities, Sony has bracketing, live view, image stabilizer as well as auto focus which I do not see in the D3000. Which is all good for a newbie (esp AF and stabilizer) And its cheaper than the D3000, gahhhh!

I still want a Nikon though, what say you guys?

The D3000 doesn't have an in-built auto-focus motor in the body. So it can only auto-focus if the lens has a built-in focus motor. Likewise, the D3000 doesn't have a in-built image-stabilizer in the body; the lens must have a built-in image stabilization. The good side of it is that the 18-55mm lens provided in the D3000 kit both the focusing motor and image-stabilization (VR) capabilities.

If price is a concern, the Sony A330 is likely to save u more money in the long run, especially if you intend to buy more lenses. Cos lenses with image-stabilization and focus motor is normally more expensive.

hello DSLR world! I've just gotten from my fujifilm S2000HD to a Nikon D3000!!
Woots!

Haha, chaosjc, welcome to the club. :)

Awesome, I finally got myself a D3000 last night super cheap lol. Took some shots earlier in the day, so far so good :bsmilie:

Hi noobie here too...torn ntwn D3000 and Sony A230/330. How much and where u got ur D3000?

Does AF motor and Image Stab impt for newbie like me? Sony have both at cheaper price tag but D3000 more expensive but lack both features....sigh...heeelpppp!!!

Hi,

1.When the lighting is too dark, I am not able to activate the shutter flap when I depress. The shutterflaps will only activate when I can get the beep confirmation from the auto focus. Is there any way to overcome this? Especially those shots which I would like to take in total darkness. The camera does not allow me to take it.....

Thanks.

Set to manual focus mode then you won't have this problem.

I got mine for only SGD850 with 18-55mm lens and the usual bundled items :bsmilie:

I got mine at Hai Chew Electronics (at SLS). $830 with usual bundled items.

Was kinda torn between D3000 and Sony A230 too. For the fact that A230 is so cheap! But so far I'm happy with my D3000! :D

Hi All...
I just got my D3000 too... Now i'm looking for cheap deals for the lens and flashes...
Anyone can recommend???

pokeke, vancula, you lucky... 830 is a steal.

isumairu, lens can get through Buy and Sell. Got my 55-200 2nd hand for 280. But for my 35mm, I got first hand through Cathay Photo. Not bad price at 365... considering it was out of stock everywhere else. And those letting go on Buy and Sell was about 350-360 range.

Hi n welcome :)

n to answer ur question...
All the lenses which have "AF-S" in their names will work on d3000.. since d3000 does not have a built-in AF motor, so other AF lenses wouldn't work

Thanks Irvin.
Care to post photos taken by D3000 & setting of it???

The lenses will still work, but the autofocus will not. :bsmilie: Just have to manual focus.
