How about sticky versus threads instead? That would sastify every newbie comparing the two cameras in question? :bsmilie:

This is like Calsberg, Heineken or Tiger. Your personal choice prevail... Here is my observations:
Nikon: Very photographer centric company (they are more focus optical/camera company compared to Canon), definitely robust camera bodies. Being a bit of underdog in 2003 till 2007, they are getting very agressive in product development and pricing, overall lens line up a still behind Canon. Dependent on Sony for some of the sensor technology, so may not be as flexible in their sensor technology. Likely to reach a stagnation after the recent FX crops of cameras, until the next big breakthrough 3-4 years down the road (this is my guess). But be sure they will come up with some pretty nice breakthrough then.
Canon: Very consumer centric company (they make printer/video cam/camera/notebook/copier etc etc), stronger financial muscle and wider resources reach across various market place. Lead dog in camera world since the turn of century, and will likely to take lead (unless they screw up big time). Widest glass choice (with some of the best lens, and some dog amongst it), width and depth in consumer electronic technologies, build their own sensor, chips, optics, boards, etc. Very marketing focus, hence the issue with overly clear segmentation, which translate to feature supression in their mid to entry versions... But you can count on them to give you top notch flag-ship model (1DMk3 AF issues is a shame, but don't write-off Canon, they will fix it, because the stake is too high for them).
So, between this two great brand and company, which do you choose. It's a bit like choosing between Toyota & Honda; or BMW and Mercedes; Ferrari & Porche; you won't loose by choosing either one.
Actually, I'm officially both Canon and Nikon user, since I do have a Nikon FE film SLR...
I do not think one can associate G1 with 'lens reflex' 'cos there's nothing to flip. :bsmilie:
I have a new name for it: CIL (compact interchangeable lens).
How to make sticky for all such threads?? There are too many
Probably have to make it multi-level as well ...............
I vote for 50D + EFS17-55 + 85L which will have immediate advantages over the alternative. FYI, Nikon version of 17-55 do not have IS. And thier 85 f1.4 also not as good as Canon version.
These are the combo I suggested... And they are my favourite
I will with a company that is stronger financially, one that makes all the important parts of their camera, especially sensor. If one day, Sony decide to screw up Nikon and stop supplying sensor to Nikon, what is Nikon going to do? Start their R&D in sensor technology?
tink their D3 and D700 sensors isn't from Sony leh.:dunno:
Which one will you get if u wanted buy?
Nikon D300 and Canon 50D..
Because I wanted to get one of them and very confuse and don't know what to choose.
So wanted to get opinion from you all..
Thanks..
