Yeah, some sort of built-in TC.

So, my 24-85mm is 36~128mm effectively.

Not much time to shoot, but last Sunday able to take some shots in Wakefest and hopefully can go to Bishan Park tomorrow. :)

I got it yesterday @ $1500 (inc GST) without extra CF (comes with 32MB out of the box)

Abosolutely agree that the LCD is kinda small man.

But as for the noise....acceptable lar.....unless.....you wanna take "stealth" shots?!?!?! ;)

Voyueristic shots? If not why so particular over the noise? I find the LCD is seldom used anyway, most people use the EVF to frame their shots, and LCD to review the shots. I personally do that and so do many others. How big is big? 20" LCD?

Viewfinder used to own one, his gallery would do justice to the CP5700. I won't post his link here, but his link is in his signature. :)

My shots don't do justice to the camera. No face to show. :embrass:

hey james, thanx for the ad!! :D

was great meeting up with u today, managed to understand most of the camera talk and as NONE of my friends are into photography, the talks we had today were invigorating and i learnt alot!

have a good shoot tomorrow, i'll be off to melbourne and will check out the building that u mentioned.

thanx for the tour today mate!

issit true to say that other than the 8x optical zoom on 5700, sony's 717 would be a better performer? according to dpreview, the noise level on 5700 is much higher than 717 and i've been reading abt the bad af in low light although someone has already posted a fix. do both cameras run on AA? 717's battery life seems to be higher too but the memory stick(argh) is definitely more costly than the compact flash 5700 is using. i quite like the fact that 5700 is built slr-like and it has the nice zoom. how abt the evf on both? 717 aint that good huh? sorry i'm a newbie and this will be my first camera. pls play nice :D thanks

oh and 717 has a nicer aperture range and it has carl zeiss lens (not sure if thats much better than the nikkor lens..). the whole proprietary thing sony has going on ain't too appealing to me. :dunno: it just makes their accessories a tad pricey

I frankly have no problems with the noise level on the CP5700 maybe I can't see, but at ISO400 even, I don't see a lot of noise even when I don't turn NR on. Only the CP5700 can use AAs with the help of an external battery pack (read: additional cost). Sony's 717 has the 2nd highest longest lasting battery apart from the Canon G3.

I have tested the CP5700 EVF and the Sony 717's EVF, I stuck with the CP5700 of the 8x zoom and feel of handling the camera.

You should go and test before you can come to a conclusion which I advise you to.
