FYI - sounded some of the retailers out.

Seems like the price they are offering is already so competitive that they dun seem to be willing to bring it down for a 2-3 pcs purchase

Either that - or the economy is not that bad after all!

will the thread infront of my TC is 58mm. so would be able to attach your TC. as for the Tcon 17, a stepdown ring from 58-52 is required like what tangoninazero has mentioned.

well i was toying wif the idea of another TC. my current TC is only 1.5x, with another 1.7 it will be able to reach ~20.25x.
I tried taking wild life at sungei buloh.. 12 times is not sufficient!!


the UR-E8 thread is unique.. (53.?mm) cant really remember.
unless you want 3rd party 52mm adapter.. the end to the camera is the same as the UR-E8, but the other end is 52mm


saw you looking at 5700 buy sell thread...

For 20x means your camera must be super stable.
I just saw a website, an adapter to connect to UR-8 for use of 55mm thread but must order thru paypal..
Why so troublesome not like F717 can just directly use ;p

So means need UR-8 + UR-8 to 55mm adapter + step up ring to 58mm before I can attach any 58m filters or lense..
Too bad I dun have any credit cards so cannot order from overseas for the adapter.

Don't think will be selling the 717 if I managed to get the 5700..

I went to bird park today and also cant really get any good shots. At 10X at already need a stable support and I still have not gotten any tripods!

dont need.. juz get 52mm adapter (~S$30+-) + step up ring.. (its cheaper than getting from overseas) check out horizoner's pic of the 52mm adapter. http://www.pbase.com/image/18112995

but where do you connect the 52mm adapter to ? to the place where ur-8 suppose to be connected to or on the 5700's zooming lens barrel itself ?

you connect it to the camera body itself.. don't need the UR-E8 at all.

but if you are intending to keep the 52mm adapter on all the time to use your CPs and UV filter. I would suggest you to get the 72mm adapter from bernie heins. ( I use 52mm for close up only)
coz it vignetts when using the 52mm adapter at wide angle.

I keep the UR-E8 + bernie 72mm adapter on all the time.
no vignetting thru out entire zoom range.

Does it means that if I use UR-E8 + bernie 55mm adapter + step up ring to 58mm and put in 58mm filter, it will cause vignetting at wide angle too ?

That is to say.. if I dun need to connect a telephoto, the best setup is to use UR-E8 + Bernie 72mm adapter to attach filters.
When I need to attach the telephoto, i will have to remove the UR-E8, put in the 52mm adapter + 52 step up ring to 58mm to attach a 58mm telephoto convertor..
Seem troublesome to me

If I am not wrong, for the F717, there will not be any lens protuding out of the camera. But for cameras like 5700, G3 or even mine, when we turn on the camera, a barrel will be extended and thats why we need a lens adapter to contain that barrel before we can screw other extra stuff on.
