Oh, is the price for D40 and D60 at comex worth it then?

Unless you're a sucker for free gifts(no offense), the D40 and D60 should be cheaper outside because the shops like AP and John retail them lower than RRP price.

PS: i do recommend you pick the D60 as the D40 is rather obsolote/old/aging depending on the angle u view it :D

Last I heard from John was 1250 for a D60.

At megastores, I don't think the staff have leeway to reduce prices. Probably they can offer you some freebies only.

try HN, they are able to.

these guys are from harvey norman one. do not expect them to have enough camera knowledge. :P It's okay if they don't know the details, but some of them from previous experience are pretty rude. And clueless.

Actually, the dealer isnt Harvey Norman, is Aik Seng photo. :)

Here is my take.

I went down and asked the ppl there if I am able to switch the D700 to both DX or FX format. The first guy said " Cannot this is onli a FX camera." I replied " Really?! and I thought there is two format?" So he left to ask his colleagues. Another chap came by and I asked the same question and he gave the same reply as his colleague.

By this time the first guy returned with answer " yeah yeah you actually can."

The second guy still with me kept quiet.

I asked " So how to?"

The first guy left for a second time and I walked away.

So here: Read up before u go. Do yr reasearch.

If I were u? I would buy the CF card tt is selling so cheap now. else where is going for 75 for a 4GB scandisk EX III

actually this lack of knowledge of the product is nothing new. have been to PC, IT Shows and Comex-es, have encountered too many times whereby the sales/staffs who were not familiar with the products at all, not even to the simplest specs or product queries. reckon they were (are) either temp or part-time staffs.

I am also looking to buy nikon d60 (single lens kit).
So far it seems like audio house has better offer.

Checked with John 136 about 2 weeks ago, they quote me $950 for d60 (single lens kit). Accessory included is only 4GB SD card. I didn't ask further or bargain on that.

But looking at information from comex and other shops, here is my comparison so far:

Comex
Camera (Single Lens): SGD 988
Accessories:
- (useful) 8gb sd card, more or less SGD 40
- (standard) nikon bag, likely not very useful if u intend to get better bag
- (not useful) umbrella
- (useful) tripod, more or less SGD 50
- (don't count) LCD cleaning pad
- (don't count) cleaning kit
- (useful) EN-EL9, more or less SGD 80
Total worth of useful accessory = SGD 170

Audio House
Camera (Dual Lens Kit): SGD 1188
Accessories:
- (useful) 30L dry cabinet, more or less SGD 100
- (useful) 4GB x 2 SD card, more or less SGD 50
- (standard) camera bag
- (useful) tripod, more or less SGD 50
- (don't count) cleaning kit
Total worth of useful accessories = SGD 200

Bargain City
Camera (Single Lens Kit): SGD 969
Accessories:
- (useful) 2 x 4GB SD card, more or less SGD 50
- (useful) 2 x extra compatible battery (not nikon battery), more or less SGD 60
- (useful) tripod, more or less SGD 50
- (not useful) SD card reader
- (standard) bag
- (don't count) UV Filter
- (don't count) LCD Protector
Total worth of useful accessories = SGD 160

I couldn't find any information on D60 (Single Lens Kit) price from Audio House in their website. But looking at above comparison, they seem to be the cheapest among all.
Because if we compare with D60 with dual lens kit, both comex and bargain city is selling at SGD 1288. So audio house is still cheaper by SGD 100.

Anybody knows the price of D60 with single lens kit from Audio House?

anyone know what is the brand/spec of SD card nikon is offering for this comex show?

The 2x8GB card I got for the D80 purchase yesterday is the Sandisk Ultra II 15/MB/s.

As an aside, also got an additional 3 months warranty for the camera body by signing up and registering the camera with www.nikonclub.com.sg

Yes...they have credit card installment. Just came from there looking at the D60. Somehow the price they told me is different.

Camera (Single Lens 18-200): SGD 1288
Accessories are the same.

Was told Dual Lens is $1488? Me kena con? Heng haven't commit yet.

Hahahahaha. Only $900 more than street price from a reputable dedicated camera shop.

Whoah, the D60 in the ad from the link provided is really worth it.

18-200 lens + D60 for 1288!

Anyway is audio house in comex as well?

That is most certainly not the Nikkor lens. I have seen the ad somewhere else and think the lens is a Sigma, although the photo looked like a Tamron.

You can't get D60 and AFS 18-200VR Nikkor. The deal sounds too goot to be true, and hence cannot be true.

It might be a bonafide 18-200VR if the price with the D60 is close to 2k.
