Nikon Cameras not green?

Green = Environmental friendly, energy saving, for those who thinks it's the color of the camera :bsmilie:

Of cos everyone knows you need power to take a shot for DSLR , I am not talking about Nikon F2, FM2 or Canon F-1 here, but at least I feel it would be nice if you can actually view thru a camera in its full glory to check a camera or a lens, or view your composition without needing power to light up the viewfinder, canon can do it, why can't nikon? I just wanted to know the rational behind, power might be minimal, but it's still power, and without these mininal power, how are you going to check out the latest D700 viewfinder if the salesman refuse to slot in a battery cos it's brand new.

I'm not too sure if Canon can light up the viewfinder without battery or there is a small backup button battery in it to do the job, at least I saw a button battery on top of the main battery in their PnS camera. Without even a small button battery I just wonder how the clock in the camera works. If it can, the world need to apply this idea of getting energy out of nothing, then we don't have energy crisis. So, Canon is not green either.

post post in CS use electricity, we all sld stop surfing CS :embrass:

This takes a whole lot more energy than powering up the LCD. First you need your computer + monitor, modem, routers, servers, harddisks etc etc...

I don't know what Nikon is doing there but Canon doesn't need any battery to light up viewfinder. The small cell is only for keeping date and time. Taking out the main battery doesn't change anything in the viewfinder.

Some may call it a feature, some may think it otherwise. Whatever it is, there must be a use for it.
