Nikon 70-300 or?

And the 80-200/2.8D push pull is very value for money nowadays. I sold mine, which is near mint, for around $750 including original hood (Hood do not come with this lens standard).

but also if i need more reach den i need to get a TC.. so still kinda torn in between... maybe shld just get a 70-300 for the time being..

lets say for now i am looking at 70-300 only.. shld i get a nikon or 3rd party?

That's also depends on how much you want to spend on the lens. About $650 will get you a pre-owned Nikon 70-300 VR lens, which is what I'll recommend.

new lens is slightly more than that right?

then you should not have use a DSLR...
try the new mirrorless instead, smaller and lighter for body and lenses.

i believe it will be much worse if i get any of the 70-200

Exactly. At 1.4 kg it's no joke

Like the 50/1.4D on a D3 or D3s. Also quite fast on the D300s.

Yes, i do agreed that some AF-D(especially primes) on certain bodies focusing is faster.
however TS is looking at 70-200/70-300 lens range, so it have to depends on his/her budget and carry load.
Either original or 3rd party lenses will give good results in some way and depends on individual preference/liking.

weight is not really a problem for me i think.. can always train up for it..
