Nikon 55-200 VR

Have decided to get the sigma 70 200 macro instead. sigh.. need to sell off my tamron 90mm to fund it.

My advice.. keep your 90 Macro unless you're upgrading to a Micro-Nikkor.

Apparently Nikon just took the non-VR 55-200 and dumped the VR gyroscopes and lens group somewhere in the lens barrel.

I was curious at your post. I compared the 2 lenses in nikon website and got this:

Lens:AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED
Lens Construction: 15 elements in 11 groups (one ED glass element)

Lens:AF-S DX Zoom 55-200mm f/4-5.6 G ED
Lens Construction: 9/13

I'll search some more regarding this. It got me curious. :thumbsup:

Seems the VR version has more glass, but less groups, and the old one had two ED elements... :think:

This lens is available in Taipei in some of the shops in Po Ai Road.
行家(Hang Jia) - NT$8,000 abt S$380
永勝(Yuan-Shen) - NT$9,000 abt S$430
Some other shops selling at NT$9,000 as well. All shops provide international warranty.

Wonder what the prices in Singapore will be like. :think:

Compare this 55-200VR lens' focusing speed to the 18-70 kit lens, is it very slow?

Cause I'm considering this lens to complement my kit lens. 55mm makes it a decent walk about wideangle for me.;p

2nd hand someone was letting it go for 750 i think. and first hand can get at oriental photo for 900
