can u post some sample straight out of cam.??? Thks a lot.:)

I think if u want to want to produce test shots, you should do it straight out of cam without any optimization except a little of curve..

My honest option on the shots, they are a little too hard in sharpness.

You should shot something neutral. Your camera sharpness change it to normal and do the test shots.

And also your EV put it to zero. All your shots were shot at -1/3EV which makes the pics looks very dark or it looks like they were shot under grey sky.

One more point, you shoot all your shots at wide open, do some at F8 - F12 to compare the sharpness at the different aperture thats where u can see the true sharpness in them.

Colours wise it is fairly good, nikor lens can't go worng lah.

Thanks for the comments & suggestion.
These 2 shots are straight conversion from RAW to 800X600 JPG by photoshop. No sharpening or tweaking done.

may I suggest you convert the pic to sRGB? color looks pretty dull under your current profile(aRGB) ;)

I want the e-quote too, can forward to me?;)

I'm intending to get this great lens after my exams this month!!! Argh...i'm deprived now...stupid exams!

the e-quote is valid for one week after the date of recevied....

Yeap, agree with the others.

1. Sharpness for lens sample photos should not be adjusted. This shows the true sharpness of the lens.

2. Exposure looks a little on the under side for the unadjusted pics. Some of the colour won't show because it's lost in the shadow.

3. Colour space, as Explorerz mentioned. Would be nice if it were switched to sRGB, then it'll be more accurate in showing the colours of this lens.

Great effort man, bro.

I called TK and was quoted $400.

Oh...bummer...then i guess i'll have to request e-quote at the end of the month myself then.

Thanks for informing me!

Technically, under the same lighting condition, the f4 55-200 will require the shutter speed to be 1/3 stop slower than its f3.5 18-200 counterpart. So, that means the 18-200 will always be 1/3 stop faster than the 55-200. I am not saying that the 1/3 stop is important or not (it is really up to individual), I am just stating the difference.

About the optics, yet to see a proper comparison and review.:)

Ok, Thanks for your reply!:D

MTF will tell you everything you need to know. Remember the wide for 18-200 is for 18mm. Comparing the lenses at 200mm, the 18-200 is sharper at the centre but the sharpness is more consistent towards the corner for the 55-200.

Thanks Isisaxon.

The 55-200 has more consistency in terms of sharpness thru' out the pic at 200 end. But cannot compare at the 18mm end. But duno about other aperture setting too....

In general, I think the 55-200 is a good catch if one has a 18-55. By the way, how to get data for 10 and 30 mm/line in a single pic.
